Eyo friend, a question to you if you are still visiting. What sort of measures, in your mind, would be proper to make the game more accessible to you, a replacement with another enemy type or what other measures do other games use? I would very much like to make the game as accessible as possible and I did not anticipate that having spiders would be a problem.
I find that half measures don't work generally. Things like what Peak and hogwarts legacy did that, removed the legs from the creature but kept the webs still provokes a response because things like webs are associated with them. So it's like frame generation. We fill in the gaps in our minds. So any direct replacement also needs to replace webbing as well.
I found the skyrim mod "Arachnophobia - Spiders are Wolves - Chaurus are Bears - No Cobwebs or Eggs" Works well as a example of how to do a good arachnophobia mod.
Also "Yet another Zombie Survivors" Does a good job. They outright replace EVERYTHING about them with slimes and even their attacks and deaths. They even change the stat/item names to slimes.
I thank you for your concern on this Matter. Alot of Devs tend not to care about things like this for their 'artistic visions' and it's much appreciated. I suspect you plan on doing slimes as a enemy type in the game. So something like a 'deep/cave slime' or something like that would work. "You could even keep things like the cocoons and the 'ladders' if they were slime colored as well. Just keep the standard 'webs or web attacks' to more splats then the associated shape.
Also a lazy option could be to allow us to skip sections with a prompt in the settings section.
Again I thank you for your concern. And sorry if all of this feels like ramblings or it would be too much work I hope I was able to help.
