im getting
Failed to open descriptor file ../../../TheParasites/TheParasites.uproject when launching it, both from
TheParasites.exe and from
TheParasites/Binaries/Win64/AdvancedLocomotionSystemV-Win64-Shipping.exe.
(i did not add the black box, not sure what it is, doesnt seem to be text as i can select the text above but not that line)
considering the structure of unreal engine games, im guessing it is looking relative to the
TheParasites/Binaries/Win64 folder, which means it is trying to open
TheParasites/TheParasites.uproject.
this file doesnt exit, neither extracted nor in the archive. and it shouldnt exist either, nor should the game be trying to look for it.
is anyone else facing this problem? it was happening on 0.1.2.2.2.0 (or whatever it was), while troubleshooting i noticed it was updated to 0.1.2.3.2.5, but same issue there. i checked the downloaded archive checksum both times, and extracted again, still same result.
i am on linux if you think it matters, but this looks like a badly packaged executable... it should only want a
.uproject file when looking around the source code of the game, production/shipping builds are not supposed to ship with it nor look for it.
i have another 19 unreal engine games installed that work just fine, dont think linux would be the problem here. and none of them come with
.uproject files.
EDIT: i just realized im not the first with this issue. i had searched for "uproject" which gave no results, but searching "descriptor" did find other people with this issue. i will try downloading from buzzheavier instead of gofile.
EDIT: this worked for me:
here it is, I uploaded it to gofile:
