What is the launcher.exe actually used for here?
Since it's flagged on virustotal by several, I don't wanna risk it, especially with the increasing number of compromised uploads nowadays.

However, the main game launches fine at least at the start even if I delete the launcher. So I guess no harm done?
Or does it have resolution settings or something, has anyone tried opening it?

Also, can someone please tell the difference between this on Steam and the Full Voice HD size edition (excluding H scenes of course)

From the Steam reviews, it says you need the R-18 patch to get to the True ending?
So the ones uploaded here are the Steam versions with the Patch? or are there additional modifications in those?

On Mangagamer, one review says that the translation is horrible.

You'll need to run the game from Launcher.exe, this is what happened to me when I tried to run the 殻ノ少女 HD.exe directly, it doesn't scale anything right. I couldn't get the launcher.exe to work at first until I set my system locale to JP, then it was perfect. Launcher also seems to get deleted or quarantined for some due to these changes it makes alarming antivirus software but it IS safe, just does some injection fuckery Windows doesn't like. While you're at it you can also grab the Improved Readability mod from the as it greatly improves the experience in English by changing up some fonts, allowing more lines and just generally cleaning up the formatting. Not as outright essential as the decensor but nice to have.

Also anyone that hasn't played this yet should get on it, it's a 10/10, especially as the HD version fixes the most glaring issue the original had with its limited moves across the map. If you're just jumping in you want the second link (Full Voice HD) and the decensor, you do NOT want the Shiravune version unless you just have some morbid curiosity. It westernizes it ditching the honorifics for some silly reason but more importantly it just completely betrays the tone of the game by washing away some of the grimness of the writing to feel more like...standard moe VN? It's hard to explain but the vibe's just not there anymore and I'll always prefer the labor of love that is the mangagamer one. The one downside as mentioned is the prologue is still MTL, as it didn't exist when Mangagamer did their work, it's not dreadful or anything but I hope it gets a look over one day to truly complete the package. Special series, nothing like it.

EDIT: One more note for any poor souls on mac troubleshooting in future; the game works well on wine/crossover but you have to install lav filters into the same bottle/system or it'll lock up on the post-prologue opening FMV. It still won't PLAY it unfortunately but it will proceed. The same issue exists on linux with proton but that one that gets it playing.

Try this @force

place the savefile on

"Hello, I only created an account to post this message. Please edit it as you see fit if this violates any of the forum rules.

I was facing the same problem, (could not find the savedata folder). I solved it using Sysutil Process Monitor and got the file location. As this question is still unsolved, I thought I would share my finding with the community.

On my machine (Windows 10), the save files were being stored in:

C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Kara No Shoujo\savedata

Have a nice day."

copy and replaced

work in the normal version from this

hi guys does anyone have a fix for this text issue View attachment 5602971
That's indeed troublesome! First time seeing this...
W-wait! Actually, the post above the one above yours (so a whole three posts back from here ), gives a great and very detailed answer on how to fix your exact issue (among other things)! Well I'll be...
Wh-what the daaamn! Stop the presses!! Just now realizing that half the thread is about that issue and how to fix it!! Holy shitu!!

...only thing to add so this won't just be some -well deserved, imho- slight trolling on my part, is: it's entirely enough to only emulate Japanese locale to run 'Launcher.exe' -which you, remember, might need to add to as an exception to your AV if it happens to be acting up (but as mentioned, it IS safe)-; so look up the tool 'Locale Emulator', if you are not already acquainted... (it's genuinely a helpful thing to have)

Slight problem... The improved readability mod is for the Shiravune version?!
So, yeah... Does not compute, sadly.
