Okay I'm sorry for the stupid question but when a weapon breaks it turns into scrap and essence. Scrap seems like you are supposed to use it as a forging material but what is the point of the essence?

Essence is what retains some of the bonus effects, like bonus max HP or bonus damage types from the broken weapons. You can add bonus essence to another weapon to make it stronger or craft the same weapon with the same bonus essence for better bonus effects.

The essence can only hold up to 3 bonus effects. When weapons are broken, if your weapons have more than 3 bonus effects, only 3 random effects will form a new essence.

Thank you! That makes sense but I guess it naturally leads into the question of: is it worth it? Should I always be using both pieces of the weapon when I'm making new weapons? Should I use them as the base part or as enhancement materials after completion?

The game kind of feels hard enough I don't want to burn resources on trial and error...

It's up to you. If you want powerful weapons with maximum 8 effects, go for it. Though it will be extremely time consuming and you may also burn out because there are so many good effects that it's hard to choose which one are the best for your main weapons.

On the other hand, you can focus on main effects of the specific weapons instead stuffing them with all 8 effects. This strat will make your favourite weapons getting stronger over and over. Howerver, when value of essence reaches a certain point, they will no longer increase once the weapons break. For example, I forge a weapon with an effect that give you a chance to inflict poison on the enemy when attacking them, up to 100%. But when this weapon break after the durability reaches 0, the essence only keeps 30% of chance. So the diminishing returns prevent you from making early busted weapons. Therefore, don't go overboard with stacking effects.

Based on how the enchantment system works you could use the essence for crafting since the number of enactments given is based on some kind of rarity system and essences can be considered to have some kind of rarity.
But that is given that you can recreate the same weapon and get consistent results so it's more of case of using the heroine weapons or certain elemental weapons.
But in general essence is used after crafting as it doesn't have much weapon stats, you would need to savescum a lot of enchantments slots and want to maximize the effect like building a poison weapon and the essence gives you the equivalent of one more enchantment.
It can work for something like the Haste Knife as you always want to max the Skill Levels and the amount of Haste enchantments from the haste potions.

The strategy in this game is to compound the effects of the weapons and skills and try not to lose it, which not every time do you get the essence if you use things like the scrapper.

The strategy to invest in things like accessories and other weapons is for the boss runs and depends on the bosses and your preparation for them, but that means you are going to lose the skills and effects you have built up.

how to know hidden item?

Explore non-randomized areas, like the ones with green magic circles or resting places before fighting bosses. If you see chests, open them and you will obtain random accessories and they will be identified. From then on, the black and red accessories will lose question mark and will be revealed their true forms in the world.

I want to view this game favorably but wow did the devs test this at all? After the fourth boss they introduce a trap which summons a reaper who:
- Has high damage
- Spams debuffs
- Resists every damage type including true damage
- Respawns almost instantly after death
- Puts a debuff on you causing a game over after 30 turns

And, of course, this trap is extremely common. I've stepped on one every run so far and there's nothing you can do once that happens as far as I can tell. This wasn't in the game last time I played and I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea...

Always stack at least 12 True Sight potions and use them each floor if you aim for the boss run, or else just 5 for short run with materials farming. It's meaningless to fight the Death cuz how broken she is, so just run towards the teleportation if she appears.

It was made in rpgmaker mv, if you have a method to run those games on mac, you won't have a problem getting this to run.
Sorry for the delay in response. Normally I am able to run the MV games using RPGMaker-Launcher or with Wine; however, I can't run with RPGMaker-Launcher due to lack of package.json, Game.ini, or RTP_RT in the game files. Also, I encounter some issues trying to run the game with Wine. I could try to include the log file for Wine if it would be helpful.

Edit: looked more at previous comments in thread and I agree that it seems to be an issue with the way the game is packaged. If anyone is able to post an unpacked version of the game (as unstable as it may be) that would be appreciated.
