Thank you! That makes sense but I guess it naturally leads into the question of: is it worth it? Should I always be using both pieces of the weapon when I'm making new weapons? Should I use them as the base part or as enhancement materials after completion?
The game kind of feels hard enough I don't want to burn resources on trial and error...
Based on how the enchantment system works you could use the essence for crafting since the number of enactments given is based on some kind of rarity system and essences can be considered to have some kind of rarity.
But that is given that you can recreate the same weapon and get consistent results so it's more of case of using the heroine weapons or certain elemental weapons.
But in general essence is used after crafting as it doesn't have much weapon stats, you would need to savescum a lot of enchantments slots and want to maximize the effect like building a poison weapon and the essence gives you the equivalent of one more enchantment.
It can work for something like the Haste Knife as you always want to max the Skill Levels and the amount of Haste enchantments from the haste potions.
The strategy in this game is to compound the effects of the weapons and skills and try not to lose it, which not every time do you get the essence if you use things like the scrapper.
The strategy to invest in things like accessories and other weapons is for the boss runs and depends on the bosses and your preparation for them, but that means you are going to lose the skills and effects you have built up.
