Well mass effect is a game that is much much more then just a smut game. You can play the whole game without ever even pursuing a relationship and still thoroughly enjoy it. The market for that game are RPG fans, and most if not all of the game is appealing. Hate to break it to you, but its not even close to the same for your game. While your story is good, the gameplay is tedious at best. The goal, which is the relationships are gated by boring gameplay. So when you force people to paythrough multiple times, to see what they want, it becomes a question of "Is this really worth doing again."Also that is your opinion and I think many people would disagree. One of the big reasons I have replayed Mass Effect so many times is to see what the different outcomes are of selecting certain options. And I can guarantee I'm not alone on that.
I would have to agree with this. The fun of mass effect is the gameplay and the story. Ultimately people are here for the porn, I'd also point out that harems happened for various reasons in reality. Why its somehow badly written or unreasonable to have in an already over the to scifi or fantasy setting seems like questionable logic. The set up for the game itself already comes off as something you'd expect from a harem, the mc is literally the only male on a ship full of women. You've already set things up with a certain expectation right from the start.Well mass effect is a game that is much much more then just a smut game. See like the above point here, none of what stated here conflicts with their personality or base desires. In the harem, they would still have every aspect of their personalities. They would still have/want the mc, they would still have marriage, they could still settle down, they would still have a family though a bigger one. The issue with your logic Nergal, is that you're pretending this one thing is a great super defining aspect of any of these characters, and its not. Its not even close to a core aspect of any of the girls personalities as you have written them, them being or not being in a harem actually literally changes nothing about their personalities in any sort of noticeable way. Honestly this entire discussion is like when someone tries to make their sexuality their entire personality, no one really cares and its not a major aspect of people lives unless their lives are devoid of meaning or they're focusing on it to make up for having nothing special going on in their life.Catherine and Malaena, want the MC, not a harem, in their perfect world brains they are imagining families, settling down and marriage. It's what give them part of their character, why the behave the way they do in some things, how they see and treat you.
True, very much agree with what you said here. Though the goal of next year is to incorporate the gameplay elements into the game while continuing on with the relationship progressions, to actually open it up as a game as opposed to what is effectively at the moment, a VN. So I wouldn't judge the sentiment of what I said based on what the game is now, but what the game will be. That said though, there are still plenty of VNs out there that promote replayability, mainly through choice based options.Well mass effect is a game that is much much more then just a smut game. Agreed, the game is being marketed as a porn game. It is not being marketed as a harem game. Again, I'll keep using the pregnancy example because it's apt. If people play a game expecting pregnancy in it, then they'll be disappointed. Most people check if their make or break fetishes are in the game before playing it.Ultimately people are here for the porn, I'd also point out that harems happened for various reasons in reality. That's not really being very faithful to the argument I made at all. Their character development and personality determines how they feel about any big or small thing. Including how they would feel about being within a harem. Most of the characters wouldn't like the idea of being in it. The argument I made was that if a character wasn't designed that way in mind, and you change it, you are breaking their personality to fit whatever you are trying to hamfist in.The logic of a harem destroying a girls personality is also pretty weird, because it seems to be arguing that sharing a man or not being willing to share a man is somehow a large part of their personality. Thats on you the writer, it has nothing to do with the concept of a harem causing this problem. Mia being a mad scientist and crazy, doesn't change at all because of she banging the same guy as all of the other women on the ship. She's still the same character, to be simply, the harem aspect basically is a small part of overall character.
Disagree. As I stated in the post "in their perfect world brains they are imagining families, settling down and marriage" - maybe I should have added that addendum of "with just the 2 of them". Their perfect world imaginings doesn't include sharing it with other people. They want to wake up next to MC every morning, they want to go bed at night sleeping next to MC. The dynamic of monogamy and a harem is completely different and I'd think it would be bad faith to argue otherwise.See like the above point here, none of what stated here conflicts with their personality or base desires. I don't disagree with anything you said. But that's mainly because you misinterpreted (or rather I badly worded) my point. My point is if you design a character's personality then you have to answer the questions about what they think about certain things. In this case when the topic of harem was brought up my immediate response when thinking about the characters was "Catherine and Malaena wouldn't like this". Because I had already thought and developed their personalities. It wasn't a "they are also bi, lets slap that on them." It was actually thought out from a position of already established design and personality and history. The issue with your logic Nergal, is that you're pretending this one thing is a great super defining aspect of any of these characters, and its not. I never said harem as a concept was bad writing or unreasonable. I said I've only seen it used inside a corruption context or a really badly written context. The part I think is unreaonsable is to assume that 7 different personalities would all be into the idea of a harem, just because they happen to be living in the same place.

Also, just a note on something else you said "sharing a man or not being willing to share a man" - this is different from a harem, from what I've been led to believe? I've already stated several times that some characters don't give shit about the MC sleeping with other people.

Ultimately we can keep debating this until the cows come home, but this is the simple fact:
I don't like harems outside of a corruption setting. I don't like it as a fetish. I don't enjoy writing for it. Therefore it's not going to be in the game.
This is true for pregancy, NTR and any other fetish you want to add here.
Then I would honestly rewrite most of your game and not make the the mc the only male on the ship, or make the characters recruit-able with limits. You created the most stereotypical harem set up possible, to the point people complaining and asking about a harem are going to show up to your patreon and this thread asking about it constantly. You wrote yourself into a corner in a porn game where like I stated before, the male is the only dude on a ship full of women. Its blatantly set up as a harem game even if you don't admit it and no one would expect anything else than that. Its why this topic comes up constantly here, how you designed the game looks harem, feels harem, but then you tell people well no its not, I only wrote in every harem cliche possible into this set up. Not only that, the mc is running around space fucking every woman possible with no one caring. Every woman ever in space is pretty open and not caring sexually, but these women that you're surrounded with? Sorry they're limited on the fucking part, you have to play through this game like 30 times to get those scenes. No one is going to like that or do that, because its just frustrating with your entire set up and game design. It doesn't make sense with how the porn in the game currently plays out or the literal harem set up you wrote.True, very much agree with what you said here. If this was some other setting, where the mc was just in a town, city/school and all of the girls were around, but the options are like a standard vn and you as a player choose to talk to big titty milf and because of that you never met some other girl. It would make perfect sense, no one would have the expectations of a harem, you wouldn't have to talk about this every five minutes. But it isn't, you wrote a harem porn game and are rejecting the harem part. I should note btw, I don't even know what you mean by I don't like writing a harem, when you can just throw in a harem mode. Where it just cuts out the dialogue where I'm guessing in the future some girl is going to be pissed that the mc fucked some girl on the ship(even though the mc is fucking every female EVER OUTSIDE OF THE SHIP) and doesn't lock a player out of the options of the girls and you wouldn't have to write really anything for it. As i've stated, the game is already writen as one inherently and nothing actually would really need to get added at all for the harem mode, because nothing changes except you wouldn't get locked out of options. Also with you being this against harems, I hope you have no plans on writing 3 ways with any of the girls because that sure as hell makes no sense with what your purposing. I also hope you realize that the girls that supposedly really against idea, wouldn't like you fucking every woman ever, and all of those options should be instantly locked out the moment you're on that path. Which is just going to annoy everyone and make them hate doing that characters path and make them not popular. This makes the constant one off scenes you created practically wasted, since they're going to be not accessible during 90% of the play through of the game. In fact most routes people play, they're not going to be accessible. Because if a girl isn't willing to share you with people she actually likes, why would she be okay random people. That makes no logical sense. You could still have these accessible but the girl breaks up with you, but then you've cheapened the scenes because then people are just going save scum and no will get those scenes in an actual legit play-through.
Oh and you mentioned earlier something about settings that do harems well without corruption. Most japanese harem vns do it fine, or you could just go on amazon and look at the currently booming genre of western harem stories going on right now. Most of those books do harems well, no corruption involved.
Correct. So Basically, what your saying is, this game is being made with your own tastes in mind,

In order for the game to be fully animated,a level in donations in patreon must be reachedTried it for the first time today and definitely liked it. If I may share a single critic, it's about the " animation ". We have the animated tag, but I found only one animated scene. Is it normal ?
