Another great update. Obviously it would be awesome if there were more sex scenes but the story is so engaging and everything is detailed (we have characters doing things in the background which is rare in porn games) that I've enjoyed it very much either way.
The game is moving slowly and the story is expected... Even some of the existing scenes are unnecessary and can be dispensed with, such as the last scene of Talitha, when it was possible for her to come to the botany school suddenly without any scenes inside the village and to indulge in scenes of training and conspiracies instead, for more thrill
I don't know, that way we're reminded of such character otherwise most people would forget who she is once she would appear.

So...... some honest thoughts about the latest update.
Please bear in mind that following is just to provide some constructive criticism, and is by no means meant to offend or bash CaramelCowboy and this game in any way.

I played the update and I guess it was....... just okay?

I quite liked Amaris's scenes towards the end (update does a really good job of hyping him up as the villain and his motives), and scenes of Ivar & Vera, and Ivar, Vera as well as King Alaric which discusses things to come were good also.
To add, I am looking forward to the history between MC's mom as Swordbearer and the previous leader of the vampires which does sound interesting, and I do kinda like Luneira as a character.

Having said that, the best girl Nevaeha is missing for most of the update. :HideThePain:
Okay, jokes (partially joking, since I actually see Nevaeha as the best girl lol) aside though, bigger issue I found with this update is that I think it went too overboard with the humor.

Until now, it was always MC, Aren, Lyra trio.
Aren was always typically the one who handled a lot of jokes/funny scenes, and more often than not, acted like a doofus, with MC and Lyra playing off that humor as being a bit more serious/reasonable ones of the trio compared to Aren.

However, in this update Aren isn't in it a lot, and a lot of scenes are our MC by himself interacting with other characters (like Ava, Leliana, Astrid).
With this, the update has MC spouting jokes at almost every turn acting cocky, and behaving like a doofus many times? Making him be like an Aren clone in terms of personality?

And it's not even the matter of MC being competent.

MC can and should make mistakes at this point (like his training with Astrid), it's only natural given he's a newbie in the Knights guild, but even so dialing the jokester/doofus factor up to 11 just felt......weird, and out of character, especially compared to how I remember he acted like in the story till now.
Felt like the game was somehow compensating for Aren's large absence of acting like an idiot by force-injecting tons of unnecessary humor into the MC which I really thought wasn't needed.

Actually it would have been better off without them, given I feel they make his characterization and tone of the game inconsistent.

So yeah.
Hope I was able to make my point across.

As said in advance, just providing some constructive feedback on the update.
I still like the game a lot and will continue to follow it to see how this journey goes.

Yeah, it was a little jarring how different and over the top the MC's personality felt this episode.

Great update....but I hope MC takes what he learned from the pretty sword girl seriously...instead of continually acting and looking like a total immature fool. He was just told something that can and will affect all of the people closest to him. I felt after he woke from his talk with her, he acted like nothing happened...and that felt odd/off to me.

I hope in the next updates, we start to see MC man up and change from acting care free, into a gallant hero he needs and should be. Also I hope MC shows more concern how valuable his Mom's sword is to the "save the world" cause. (as the elf said to keep the sword safe) Like maybe showing him deciding he should be hiding it, to keep it safe...or maybe wearing it, and or using it to train...to get used to the feel of it (instead of a wooden training sword, or walking around unarmed).

As well I found it odd that while MC and his friends were on the journey to the city, not one of them had any weapons equipped. There are bandits and other dangers on the road, but instead they all acted careless to the dangers.

Which is why I'm adding incest / optional NTR / optional loli / optional furry and a LI with deathstar sized tits in the next update.
(joke)

Honestly, even 28 is very rewarding. When I started this, I expected to have none. But then people started supporting on patreon and even here. The support and comments I got on f95 were so great and that pushed me to continue even more. So that's more than enough to keep me going. Of course, more $ from patreon would be great since I could keep my day job on hold and focus on this even more(cost of living isn't that high in my country).

Personally, the updates always feel short for me because I want to throw so much content out there. I wanted 0.2a and 0.2b to be one release. 2 months is a lot of time but I get to do this only in my free time so I render as much as I can. I can make the sacrifice of less images and more text but I'm not a fan of those games. I like having multiple poses/expressions in a conversation but I was worried about file size getting too big. Luckily we have heroes like FAPmaster369 who compress the game. (If anyone else has compressed this game before, you're a hero too) . So I guess I'll stick to multiple renders and only cut down if it becomes a big problem in the future.

Sorry this ended up going off-topic
Thank you for such kind words.
Incest? Well, I'll give this one a try :)
As long as the rest is optional, I'm fine with it.

fingers crossed for increase in recognition and popularity, resulting in much better support.
this game/dev surely deserves way more than 28 patrons only...
I know what you mean!
Another game I'm following, which has GREAT graphics and a VERY promising story also has very few patrons, although it's a big success here, judging by the following...

Yeah, the sudden change in the MC's personality took me by surprise aswell, I don't remember him being /that/ sarcastic or jokester, the MC was always a bit more level-headed than Aren, and in this update, he went full out with unnecessary sarcasm, unnecessary comments, being all cocky and whatnot. Maybe that's just Cowboy trying to make it a bit more light-hearted and funny in some aspects, but it kinda took the serious vibe he had on him, the MC wasn't suppose to be copy of Aren, he's suppose to be the funny one in the group, which just came out as a bit odd to experience.

I love where the story is going though, with the dialogue opening a bit and giving more information to the MC about the whole swordbearer background is quite interesting and also to get a bit more in-depth into the villain of the story was quite a good approach, the story still has a lot of quality, except the odd personality-change from the MC, hopefully we get to modify it with out choices now, maybe that'll be the way our MC is shaped further into the future, who knows.

Again, good update, although fairly small it was quite good to finally get a bite off the capital and get the story rolling.

Yeah, but I do hope that the progression that MC as well as Aren, Lyra and any other recruits they meet (like Leliana and that unnamed girl MC meets at the girls rooms lobby) is more gradual, natural.

I think the whole reason why the MC hasn't completely or fully understood the severity of the situation YET is because he hasn't been approached by the people that knows the situation as of yet, a mystical elf telling you about such a mystical side of the spectrum and a possible catastrophe unfolding suddenly after you reach the capital is something that seems like it hasn't down on him yet, but just as serious as we all know it to be, Ivar and the King hasn't made any moves yet, for now, the MC only thinks there's a possibility of a villainous vampire creature is about to attack the world and his whole training is part of the Knight's guild rite of passage to becoming a knight. I think things will change severely at the banquet, where the King, the Princess or even Ivar might approach the MC and start unfolding everything onto him and explaining what is about to take place.

I think Ivar is playing a very dangerous game by holding the MC in the dark and taking it's sweet ass time to fill him in with all the details he'll need to know before engaging in such a battle. Like, I don't understand why all the secrecy, even they know they're running out of time and there's no time to be wasted on frivolous things like having a brawl in the middle of town while he could've approached the MC any time and explained everything, like I know we need to extend the story a bit, but come on, even after Luneria presented herself to the MC and told him about the magic and the sword, how is the MC suppose to all of a sudden understand it, take in something he only thought existed in the books and fall in line without batting an eye or doubting the whole situation.

And for god sakes, every time the MC leaves his room without his sword, it makes me annoyed and paranoid that something will happen to the sword while the MC is fucking around without a care. Everyone tells the MC his sword is so important and yet, for a knight recruit, he doesn't walk around with a sword on his hip, everytime he leaves his room without it makes me think something is going to happen to it or it'll be stolen, I don't know if it's on purpose or just a small gap in detail or aesthetics, I don't know.

my only disagreement is about the part about MC leaving his sword behind... historically people couldn;t just carry weapons within the city walls. maybe MC just doesn't want to have to explain himself whenever passing a patrol. perhaps guild recruits are allowed but MC didn't get the memo.

That's the problem though, it's not just in the city, the first time the MC actually get's to hold the sword, the first thing he does is walk over to the blacksmith in the village and get himself a sheath, but he doesn't wear it, not a single time.

And historically, people did walk around with their swords, you're not suppose to take them inside establishments such as taverns or the church. Only a few historical big cities in the medieval period actually prohibited you carrying a weapon, but even then it was usually prohibited by the length of your weapon, and mostly anything above a one-handed sword (so, two-handed swords) was illegal to carry within those specific cities, mainly a few big cities in England, a few in Italy and a if i'm not mistaken, two cities in late-medieval Germany. Other instances you were definitely free to carry swords inside cities except at night, and even in some countries, carrying a sword was actually encouraged AND enforced BY LAW, subject to even being fined if you weren't armed.

So if this was an intentional thing in the game, I'd imagine the devs would've included SOME dialogue in the presentation you had with the Knight's guild spokesperson that you were not allowed to carry your sword inside the city, but even that wouldn't really tell us why the MC doesn't or didn't carry his sword before they left Riverfell, which is why I was confused and I'm paranoid about, because the whole story is about the MC being this mystical swordbearer, but yeah... I'm not really trying to put historical-fingers in the game, I know the game isn't trying to be historically accurate, I was just pointing out the whole paranoia behind it being a very rare and important weapon in the story, even Luneria tells the MC not to leave his sword about, to carry it and be at it's side all the time.

The thing is though, this isn't the first time Luneira had gotten in touch with MC.

As for the sword, well....I'm no expert, but I guess I can sort of understand reasonings why it wouldn't be plausible to have it with him at all times in the castle.
Castle would have strict protection measures with guards who check for weapons (especially when royalties are nearby, like the King and the Princess) and would often take the weapons away until audience with the said royalties were finished.
Also, having it with him at all times, especially when he's trying to relax at places he should feel more safe I'm guessing would feel cumbersome, I suppose.

That's not to say there's no danger of theft of the sword.
But, gotta find that right balance.
Given he knows what Luneira told him, from now on when he's outside the castle, I'm hoping he has it on his back with him.

As for me, I also found it kinda odd/weird, that Nevaeha just dumped the responsibility of training MC off to Astrid, like MC was a random courier package :HideThePain::KEK:.
I mean, isn't she supposed to already be in the know from Ivar that MC is the next Swordbearer?
Given that she's been with Ivar and even was close surveilling MC trying to keep him safe, I would have thought she would have taken training MC a bit more seriously when Ivar asked her to.

And yes, her pride got a bit hurt by almost losing to her enemy in that previous update (saying "I got rusty in this time of time of peace") but I thought training MC as best as possible would take precedence over her own training, even if she wasn't aware of the 1 month limit that Alaric, Vera, Ivar found out.

Great update. Story progressed a little more. People are introduced. Still waiting for Amaris's sister. MC is Humorous but has potential. Maybe not need to be doofus that much.
With this much girls, there should be harem route. Because mc also genuinly values these girls.
And yeah, leaving his sword this much is not normal but need to see from now on.
