a state of the game would be enough so ppl can convince themself to support him which would help his business, right now u dont now if hes working on it at all, if hes just slow at creating content or if he is really trying to fix a hard bug ingame xD
I guess if u know whats happening in the game its way more interesting to support someone even if the update takes longer as if u feel like u supporting sitting at home and drinking beer ;D

At this point, would we value saddog releasing whatever he has at the end of January and being honest about it? Or simply saying "hey guys, whatever I've got is shit, I'm sorry but I have to delay again" which isn't that ideal, but at the very least, he's communicating right?

That's the issue here. He ain't saying shit.

Saddog at least has one completed game under his belt.
Unfortunately this one was way too ambitious a project to tackle on his own without having had more experience under his belt. I think he should have done another game of similar size to his previous one (My Legacy) and avoided the "sandbox" gameplay too.
I would have to agree, his first game was more simple with basic choices/outcomes and less sandbox.

For this one he increased art quality and tried to do a more free flow/sandbox game. Unfortunately his coding skills probably needed something between sandbox and his last game so he could test things, esp with the extra time the renders for the game and patrons rewards.

As any coder/project team member can tell you things that seem simple are often not and deadlines are broken as often as kept, that is the nature of building anything esp if you are learning as you go.

Yes he could work on Communication, however once depression hits, just getting out of bed is a mission and talking to people is the last thing depressed people want to do.

As to missing deadline
I can name fully professional game studios that release things, late, bug filled, or are always beta and people still paid for them.

Saddog take your time and release something when you can.

I feel like at this point he should just post what he has even if it's broken or incomplete and then patch it in a few months when he's doing better.

an interesting pattern - all guys who develop games of a sexual nature suffer from terrible depressions. Are there psychologists here? can someone tell the reason for such phenomena?

This is not a psychological phenomenon. This is a curse. Those who undertake to bring the light of the Goddesses to mere mortals doom themselves to the fight against darkness. The forces of evil cannot allow the spread of the word of the Goddesses, because this will be their final end.

I really don't see why everyone is spending so much time arguing about his delays. At this point it should be fairly obvious he doesn't give a shit and will do whatever he wants regardless of the complaints.

Who knows, but it's a source of income for him and I guess he will be needing the money right now so I think he'll look to release the update soon.

I am not a psychologists but devoting most of your time in to creating something can be depressive after for a while. I am going to give simple example for myself; I am into Daz at amateur level, probably 80 percent of my work nfsw stuff and sometimes I feel to lose all my enjoyment while making them(too much porn you know), scrapped lot of things and don't want to touch the software 2-3 days etc.
Now, this devs spend most of their time in scene making, rendering, coding and stuff. Even if they starting this job with full passion, they probably worn out in time, which I guess exact same thing happening to lot of devs, especially working alone ones.

Another example might be; I worked 4-5 years as a server in many restaurant and I saw lot of cooks that don't want to see any food for a while or don't want to eat anything. I knew couple of them wanted to quit but couldn't afford to lose a job or find another job.

I never thought speak something like that in ero game forums.
