They definitely are of better quality now, not usually my cup of tea but with all the ai slop and scammers it's a breath of fresh air.Guessing I'm in my furry era. Because my cravings and joy for these types of games has only increased. And every time I see one, the world gets just a wee bit brighter.
what?Dev gave a pretty justified reason on using Unreal in the discord.
"Unreal Engine is a very handy editor, it's flexible and has all the features we need. I don't see any cons compared to Ren'Py. Besides, Unreal has features that Ren'Py doesn't have (scale will be available in the next hotfix update, so people with non-standard monitors or phones won't have black frames). And we may be planning to add some gameplay like mini games, and that would be really difficult to do on Ren'Py"what?
Minigames are a bigger reason to avoid a game than engine type."Unreal Engine is a very handy editor, it's flexible and has all the features we need. I don't see any cons compared to Ren'Py. Probably not, Unity is good enough if you wanna add minigames in your VN without being too heavy, I wonder which UE that the dev is using, if he's using UE5 then yeah it's overkill for a VNDoes visual novel game need Unreal Engine?
First off, many of these (3D) features are unused. Second, these load the PC much more - and on some old laptop which runs renpy smooth, same game but in UE would range from borderline playable to a mild masochism.Unreal Engine is a very handy editor, it's flexible and has all the features we need. It's hard to judge at this point.First off, many of these (3D) features are unused. Second, these load the PC much more - and on some old laptop which runs renpy smooth, same game but in UE would range from borderline playable to a mild masochism.
Know it firsthand from one game which transferred from UE to renpy and was launched on dell m6800 (16 gigs and 4600m).
