I don't want to start this topic, but he gets $6,838 a month (this numbers on his patreon page write) and releases only 2-3 animations a year. 3 if you're very lucky.
You dont want to start this topic yet you did. 7k a month isn’t even that much. You take away patreon cut, costs for va, hardware, and health insurance, you are making near entry level for any technical role. Idk why people here obsess over such a small number and expect people to work as slaves.

I can only apologize if I'm really wrong.

Like, a creator will make $700k a month and only release 1 short animation for the entire year. Somebody will mention this here, and someone else will defend the artist and say, "$700K a month isn't even that much. They make more than the average person, but their life is much riskier because they don't have a job." The irony in it all is that we're all here enjoying their work for free. Why is pointing out a creator's income such a spicy, especially considering where we are?

7k in Germany is a whole bloody lot, even before tax. The average salary in Germany in 2024 stands at €54,000 annually or €4,500 monthly in gross terms, with a net average income of €2,850 per month.

You're ignoring the costs of being a self-employed business. Sure, for your job at whatever-company then 54k is a lot as the company eats the cost of your computer, electric, internet, benefits like Gym/Healthcare/Dental etc - then the costs of other staff/contractors etc.

A smut creator is responsible for all those costs (on top of whatever taxes/deductions legally required). They have to fork out the $1000s for voice acting, multiple PCs (or server costs), allowances for sick time (both the lost production and any fees incurred to recover), obviously electricity and internet fees, filehosting fees, software..

I'm not going to argue it isn't a very liveable amount (in most places); but it's by no means a huge amount.

Patreon apparently takes 5%, but 6,650 dollars before national taxes is still a lot more than the €4,500 average in Germany. Frankly, I'm pretty sure you could live very well off in most places in the world. Even California has the a lower average salary.

EDIT: Look at it the other way, all that stuff is deductible. He can get a super expensive desktop and not pay VAT. I don't think he has a lot of overhead for making a few vids a year. I doubt he has active employees he's paying. That'd be super stupid given how much output he has a year. He'd have to pay for medical, and all sorts of stuff. It's most likely he's just one guy doing all the work.

If he does everything himself then all the drawbacks listed by the dude above don't apply to him, but the benefits I listed (ability to avoid paying VAT for certain expenses) do. I might be missing some taxes if he's self-employed, but overall he's probably pretty well off, especially given how little it seems he works.

EDIT: Actually, some of the things he lists aren't a thing ever if you have employees. Dental? I don't think that's mandatory to pay in the EU. GYM?! Def not. Sick time pay I subsidized by the government here, AFAIK. Prob more. Someone better versed in EU laws could correct me or add
