She isn't even necessarily lesbian depending on how you play the game.
Well, if they actually play the game or talk to the developer they'd find out that both the MC and her GF are bisexual. Admittedly for some parts of the LGBT community they'd still hate it, since bisexuality isn't accepted as a real thing by some people in the LGBT community.

The MC having a girlfriend doesn't limit her to being lesbian. Both she and the girlfriend are confirmed bisexual in the game. This means that they are also attracted to men, though may have a stronger attraction one way or the other.
It happens all the time in discussions. It's like if the B in LGBT+ is silent.
