i'm having terrible lag spikes during infecting screens when it turns red and starts shaking it takes a solid minute before i can press anything to make it move and i don't think its my device its a pretty good laptop

I get the same issue.

Spoiler: You can see the drop in FPS, it immediately went from 60 to 5 and then slowly tapered down to <1.

EDIT: The FPS stabilized when the screen shaking stopped. I don't know what's so intensive about the effect, but my fans were at max as well.

Yea. I'm completely reworking the game. There’s gonna be more interactions with Emma, the family, and others too. I’m moving everything over to the Godot engine. Sorry for the slow progress... so much problems in IRL right now
