What made Tides really stand out to me is how fleshed out Tak's interpretation of elves are. It's difficult to find fresh ideas when it comes to the race due to how prevalent Tolkien's interpretation of them are, and how some authors don't adapt the concept to their specific story.Your comment got me thinking about how cool it is whenever a "fetish bait" category is treated like a serious romance option. Like incest, transgender, most races of women that aren't white (fantasy or not), etc.
Kinda rare to see in adult VNs but it's always well done.
A bit more nerding out... All 3 love interests are extremely well written for reasons that are a bit subtle at first. Each character has a fleshed out background as well as serving as lore masters for their perspective cultures, but that's the boring aspect. No - the subtlety lies in how seamless they feel to the audience in that you don't immediately realize the switch in conversations from exposition to courtship. Specifically, each background ties into both which sells the illusion that these characters feel realistic. The taboos and fetishes are mainly a bonus on top of everything mentioned.
It's not exaggeration in stating that the overall quality of this project far exceeds 99% of AVNs out there.
