You’re overthinking this way too much man. Like holy crap. It’s a scene in an AVN…not F1 school.
Am I overthinking it, or did the writer not think things through enough? If the dev can't get this right, in a game where racing will likely play a large role, what else will he get wrong? If you're happy just consuming without a critical thought, that's fine. It doesn't mean everyone has to.
of using Nova’s car with Mira, the MC would still have to get it back home would he not?
Yeah, the same way he does now... He gets it towed after the lesson.
So, your idea to derail the plot for a minuscule scene makes ZERO sense. The logical thing to do was what the MC did. Pick up his car, have Nova’s towed back home, and go on about his day.
The writer literally controls everything. If he decides there's a parking lot behind the garage, then there's a parking lot behind the garage.
You call it the logical thing to do while ignoring all the reasons for why it isn't. This car is his baby, the car he crashed and put a girl in the hospital with. A crash that still haunts his dreams... But sure, let's give Mira driving lessons in it.
What I'm advocating for isn't "derailing the plot," but consistency and believability. I barely know a thing about cars, but I know that this was a bad idea. What does this scene say about the MC? Am I to believe he really is that dumb and careless?
Is the scene of Mira driving the Porsche cool? It is. But is it smart or realistic? Sequences of rule-of-cool scenes don't make a story.
Also, the gearbox in his car was not manual if you had noticed. Got to keep those eyes peeled and pay attention to detail.
You think that makes much of a difference? Instead of the clutch, Mira would've needed to put her left foot on the brake pedal. The slightest touch of the accelerator would launch the car forward to 20 mph.
In a car with an automatic transmission, once you shift into D, you can simply release the brake and the car will start moving on idle, slowly and smoothly, around 10-15 km/h or even less.
On top of that, the parking area itself is huge, and even if some unexpected situation occurs, an experienced driver can shift into P within a couple of seconds and bring the car to a full stop.
PDK does not creep at idle.
