Domino Beach by Mr Jet
This game has great graphics all round. The overall visuals are really high quality, but the girls are all great too, with only three below a tier-three rating for me (Christie with her fake tits that really spoil her look for me, Emily with something about her face that just doesn’t look right to me, and Kath, who I don’t even fit into my image below as we’ve hardly seen her). All three of those have the opportunity to move up, of course, as the game progresses and they get more screentime. It’s one of those games where everyone loves tattoos, which is a shame, but I don’t think they are too bad on the girls, thankfully. With plenty of women in bikinis in every scene, and great lighting from the beach setting, this is a very visually appealing game.
The story is pretty straightforward, and while I’m not much of a fan of the “gang warfare” part of the storyline, the surfer groups do at least make it a bit different, and I like how a lot of it is done in terms of the conflict it brings. Both the surfing element and the lifeguard element feel quite fresh, even if beach settings are used regularly enough in other games, and I’m intrigued to see how the lifeguard trials will go in the next update.
The romance is a bit on the fast side, especially when you have the opportunity to lock lips with different women in consecutive scenes, and everything is a bit intertwined, so it’s not as if those women are strangers to each other. I do wonder how that will play out, with no idea if we have a harem or a solo-romance game on our hands. I don’t mind either, but if I enjoy a game and like a number of the LIs (both of which are true here), I do like to know early if I’ll need to be setting up several different saves.
The gameplay is not bad, but at the same time it’s nothing really to write home about. Everything works, but that’s the bare minimum expectation, not a feature. The choices do allow you to opt out of certain romances, but unless you explicitly reject someone, you’re often pushed into things without choice (just kisses I think though, so far at least). Other choices don’t feel too important, as they will generally be the standard four questions to get to know someone, or to gather information, and it’s just a case of which order you ask them in, although here you do get a “no more” option, so you don’t have to ask all the questions at least.
Overall, I like what I’ve seen so far, and it feels like a good improvement in all aspects over Become a Rock Star, which already looked good visually, for the most part. Here, I would say the MC is massively improved though, which I know is a consideration to some!
