Harmony Haven by respirit
I’ve played a number of these games over the last few months, and inevitably, some fall by the wayside while others have a little something that can keep me interested. This one just about has a little something at the moment, so rather than drop it after first trying it, I’ll give it an update or two to see how it goes now it’s getting into the
juicy part of the story.
Now that’s actually a second chance in itself, because I did try this gave a while ago, possibly on its first release, and didn’t continue at the time. With more content to judge by, it’s obviously helped, because I can see several things early on that would likely have been the reasons for dropping it. Firstly, the writing is pretty poor – it’s in desperate need of a proofreader – and I’d go so far as to say this might be the worst for it of the games I have on my “continuing” list, meaning it’s not far off being dropped for the quality of writing alone. The second thing is that some of the sex scenes have camera movement in the animations that are enough to give you motion sickness. I think this has been toned right down though, as I didn’t notice the same problem in later scenes.
The graphics are good overall, with some nice LIs, although none of them stand out to me as being amazing. The sex scenes (excluding the camera movement as mentioned above) are okay but again not stellar, sometimes finishing before they feel ready, and moving from banging to afterglow, with no climax portrayed in between.
The choices and paths are not bad, with what looks like a universal option to avoid any LI (for him or for her) that you don’t like. One who I avoided (a yoga instructor)
did come back to try again, and then on one path even when previously rejected twice, he was brought in without option to get handsy with the wife (although no further than just hands-on help in front of the husband). Some of the variables felt slightly unclear though, with MMC having Dominance, Cheating, and NTR Curiosity stats and FMC having Desire, Loyalty, and Submission stats. For the paths available, that doesn’t feel like it covers all the bases, and it can potentially lead to lines being blurred as the game progresses.
The overall story doesn’t seem too bad, though it’s quite basic. Sometimes you just need to stick to the basics though with these games, and I’m glad that there isn’t some crazy subplot that the dev decides is needed to create conflict, for example. There are a couple of minor instances that might fall into this category, but everything feels like it’s linked to the relationships being built in the game, rather than trying to take the story in a different direction, so that’s fine.
