Some developers get lax when there's no criticism, that's a fair point. I dunno that it'd ever get to the point where there is an annual update, not when the devs are so ambitious, but still a fair point
The idea itself is a fair concern. After all, it is possible. But the person who said that and the other dude are acting like they
know for a fact that is the case, like it is somehow impossible for different game designers to have different integrity standards and work ethic, and that what you said as another potential/possibility, is simply "sucking the creators" schlong. That is a massively irrational and illogical position to take, with no serious evidence whatsoever to actually back it up. And just from you positing another possibility, from your own experience of game design.
You're definitely not saying that people can't criticize. The idea was also that the criticisms are either overblown, acting like they know way more about the character of the creators than they ever could, and/or could be due to ignorance as well with how game design actually works. None of which were seriously refuted.
And obviously this also goes to those who are just blindly saying no criticisms allowed, as well. The difference is I didn't see many "no complaining" people. More like "eh chill out yo, you don't know that for sure/there are other possibilities."
enogh with all this crap.
*this msg is not just for you in particular ,,, just tierd of reading complain after complain after complain and no 1 gives the realistic points of view*
There really actually wasn't even that much complaining. The main thing that started it all was the dude who was all like "HEYYYY, LIKE, PATRON MILKING LOL"
And everything after that was where other people were trying to rationally explain other possibilities for the delay and/or other points regarding the importance or lack of importance of rpg mechanics
to them/other perspectives, and he just vaguely responds with more irrationality. Coming out with something like "hurr durr, are there people who actually
only play for the mechanics. You should only be here to fap, lululul that's like, dumb you know?" A complete straw man and false dichotomy that only served to spiral the topic out of the main point even more, and really had nothing to do with what badWulf was saying.
Him and the dude you just replied to, complaining, mainly. The dude you replied to was all like "uh, it's just, uh, like basic economics or something, yo." No, basic economics says that if you have a demand and don't supply it at the rate people want, you go out of business. Not magically make more money.
Badwulf just said that he preferred the shorter model, nothing wrong with that.
To be fair, Khuntai was also irrational and misunderstood Sylph's point a bit, thinking he wrote that in response to Badwulf's want of a shorter model, which wasn't the point at all. And used that to be all troll-like and take a shot at Badwulf and the rpg mechanics convo, with the "imagine wanting a basic bitch rpg" thing.
frozen unfortunately produced a very, very false analogy, further escalating things and shifting the topic even more from why Sylph wrote what he did in the first place. Bahamut for some reason is supporting that false analogy. Even though he has no need to, because there was almost no actual serious points related to arguing against badwulf wanting a shorter model, or wanting a different model at all, which is where that idea even came from. You don't need to rely on a false analogy to understand why some people don't want to fork up 100+ dollars on developing a game. It's just called not wanting to spend money on developing a game. Simple shit. That's all the explanation needed.
Though to be fair it was in response to someone else responding to the analogy as if it weren't a false analogy too, which inherently assumes its validity in order to keep the response coherent.
And then Sylph just slightly messed up and said "don't get frustrated with people already frustrated themselves."
He didn't mean don't have criticism. He didn't mean you can't feel things or want a different approach to the game design. Nor did he mean he knows for sure that the creators are good people and not throwing you for a loop or procrastinating or getting lax. He definitely wasn't sucking their cock, either. He was simply positing another way that things could be, and rationally supposing that if things are that way, most reasonable people would understand and calm down. A perspective he's gained from his experience. That's all.
