I want to be clear and say my comments are meant to grasp an understanding of your point of view.

You've said Sarah is a whore in this and several posts, I have to ask why? In my understanding of the definition, a whore is a woman who is paid for sexual services. At what point in this story is Sarah paid for sex? The closest anyone can make that claim is Dan's rent for the apartment, but wouldn't that make Dan her pimp. Otherwise, she is a woman who enjoys sex. So what, a lot of people enjoy having sex. I think the word you are looking for is promiscuous, someone who has a lot of sex with different partners. Again, so what. She's an adult and she isn't harming anyone and they are consenting---just like a lot of people in real life.

Secondary is the notion that a sex worker has no capacity for: love, affection and respect for a partner. Are there cases of this, yes of course, but to attribute that distinction to all sex workers is imo absurd.

I respect your right to think that the behavior is abhorrent or that you believe the statements above as fact. But the notion that a woman who enjoys sex must be a whore, who can't have any respect for others is an opinion I don't share.

My biggest problem with CH 31 (alpha at least, since I haven't read the final yet) is the retconning of the Vernon encounter. The idea that it was a "test" from Lester is complete BS in my opinion. On my original read, the scene with Vernon showed a glimpse of Lester losing control of Sarah (much like Dan had). It was a moment where we got to see weakness from Lester, that maybe Sarah's lust/desires are too strong for even Lester to control.

Instead, we find out Lester is the unbeatable mastermind... yet again.

I think that is the biggest failing with the latest chapter. I also think petulant/childish Sarah is a real dumbing down of her character. At one point she was strong willed and powerful. Yes, we see that with her sex scene in Otis, how she utterly dominates in this scene. I actually liked her saying "fuck that" to Lester's creed. But for the woman who once told her husband to "beat Lester at his own game," it feels like she's not even trying anymore.

Also, I know it's fiction, and porn logic is already at critically high levels for this series, but the way her kids are handled is so flippant that I cringe every time DS describes her as the "young mother." Like come on, is she seriously going to consider Lester as taking care of her children in any real fashion? I rolled my eyes hard when he mentioned them in the end of CH 30. And the fact that she lets Lester get off, effectively scot-free, at the dinner with her parents is stupid. How many times is Lester gonna play the "I'm sorry, I never had a girlfriend" card and she's gonna just buy it? Like, okay the sex is good. But it can't be that good.

I noticed that too. I'll chalk it up to it being an alpha and DS writing it in the moment and not remembering what was written before. It's gotta be a challenge to remember every detail from a series this big, but hopefully that will be cleaned up in the final. If it isn't, then that would be a shame to intentionally choose to make such a glaring error of plot armor, when it wouldn't serve any purpose.

Okay too sleepy to say something profound but I like the point about dumbing down of Sarahs character .

She was powerful in a believable kind of fashion .

I am I doubt whether his paying readers or he himself is behind that decision but it made a huge difference in quality.

But we can also argue that Sarahs dumbing down is bcuz of her hedonism but I think he just fails to make the point

I'm Back!

So after getting distracted by life and what not, I finally got to read the new chapter and I was.....whelmed. This chaoter did not invoke any emotion in me, neither love nor hate. I was bummed by the choices the characters (by that DS) made, but wasn't surprised as I got used to the characters being Flanderized for a while now. I have nothing more to add to this discussion besides what you guys have postulated. I particularly agree with the notion that Sarah was dumbed down to make Lester smarter. I know she is under stress, but the Sarah in this chapter is completely unrecognizable compared to the Sarah we all fell in love from early chapters. Weirdly, I enjoyed the scene with Lester peeking on Sarah's mom showering, much to my own surprise.

This Chapter also made me realize why I loved this series in the first place and why I am disappointed with the direction its taking now. I was intrigued by the initial premise: a perfect couple going through a bad phase gets stuck with someone beneath them at every metric (who might also be the Anti Christ himself). I guess I was attracted to the mismatch of the status because all my favorite parts involved Lester invading their space and all my fantasies and future predictions involve him ascending to meet their level rather than them stooping down, if that makes sense. I would have loved to see if the couple get out of their rut and get into tgeir good times, but couldn't get rid of the one reminder from their bad phase: Lester's dick. My ideal ending is Sarah being a successful women who can have it all, while still stopping by at Lester's command centerfor some fun. But now that the story seems to move towards dragging Sarah and Lester to rock bottom, I don't enjoy this new status quo. I guess that tells more about my taste than Don's writing.

I have it outlined and started writing some. I got this huge idea for a story that I ended up writing as a stream of consciousness story. It may or may not be fan fiction, if I keep the character names than it is but if I replace them with original names it is not.

This is the summary that Co-pilot gave me just now (it changes as I write it).

*Note from me: This is a dark story and as realistic as I can make a Stream of Consciousness story. The Captain is being conditioned to be the inside person in the NYPD for their Trafficking Organization's new foothold, Manhattan. I did some research once after reading a book and learned things that I did not know, like Sacramento, California is the most productive spot in North America for human Trafficking and this is the capital of CA. It intrigued me, the idea that in today's world Human Trafficking and slavery can still exist and is a multi-billions of dollars industry working in major cities in the United States. I wanted to explore that and my mind just went SVU, but that, specifically, is not a requirement. There is no part describing children being abused, just so everyone knows, I don't write that, I was a victim of it as a kid, as was my sister, and it is pretty much a no-forgiveness subject for me. Oh, and in just a little over two weeks time I have written almost two hundred pages. This story has really gripped me, as a writer, in a way very few have.

So here the latest summary goes, the others listed it as incredibly realistic.

You are welcome to that opinion, but if you took a whirl at it, I think you'd find it's more difficult than cut copy paste. What I was referring to is the craft of writing not the content. They do write well-crafted sex scenes and it's one of the reasons, people put up with some of the missteps with the plot of their stories.

I found the sex scene that close to dad ridiculous as well. Would have been much better if instead of Lester demanding a kiss, he was demanding one more sex session. Sarah knows that crazy so she puts on her charm and pushes him on the bed and kisses him sensually. She then promises him much more when they see each other soon. That would advance their relationship and intimacy instead of a useless sex scene that lasted for a minute
