Yesterday

All right, we're back at it. And now that we can talk about Shelley, we're not going to talk about Shelley. I'm kidding, but what is there to say? New girl who alters the dynamic of the trio and introduces some new questions about who she is as a person and what baggage she's gonna have, because you know we don't add characters who don't have their own history and personal quirks/demons. Anything more than that might ruin any potential surprises.
In terms of development support, when we have the time, we are doing a little rework on some older content. As you can see from the sample screenshots, for 0.08.0 we have some re-shot scenes to be implemented. Examples below (original on left, new on right):

TOXICity 0.07.0 update #2

So, we're at a point where the base structure of the build is in a playable state. There's no audio, no stat flags, and we haven't even tested to see if the animations work right yet, but that's what the next few days are for. It'll all get polished up in time for the nearing release.
It seems that some of you have taken to theory-crafting explanations about the fog and the Burned Ones, and we're enjoying some of the comments we read. While we are taking the philosophy that not every question will be answered, because leaving certain aspects open-ended for players is the intent (we hate movies where everything is spelled out to the viewer), there are sequences planned in the future intended to shape the ecology of the new, hostile environment.

The Interim Domain 0.99.0 is still on track for later this year. "Why is it taking so long?" you might ask. Well, developing two games at the same time does take time. Plus, that pesky 50 hour a week job I do to pay for other crap. As a reward for your patience, the new ending is pretty big. We are currently at the opening of Act 3, and there are already 1700 new renders and 87 new animations. To give you context, this is about two to three full episodes' worth of the game that are just dedicated to the new ending. And that's not counting what's left to be done and the integration of all the other endings into this new story.

Thanks for your interest and patronage,
-Kinderfeld

movies that leave shit up in the air.
For some, it probably depends on how it leaves it up in the air:

(1) Does it leave enough clues to point to something definite, even if it's not explicitly shown or told? That's probably forgivable.

(2) Is the only way you'll get something definitive is from a source outside the main game? Then that's probably annoying for some people.

I hate books/stories that leave things up in the air, too. Like the short story The Mist by Stephen King (movie, as all by his books, was different.) Ironically, the MC in the story mentions he hates movies and such that end that way.
Same.
IMO, more often than not, it feels like a cheap way for the author to end the story because he has no clue on how to end it.

I don't mind if not every question gets answered, as long as the ending isn't left open-ended.

I want happy endings in my porn slideshows, I've been burned too many times by "bittersweet" endings in books (and more often than not, they end up more bitter than sweet, at least to me).

Those can be the best ones tho. Is Deckard a human or a replicant? Is Doug Quaid really living happily on Mars, or is he trapped in his implanted memory?
Never read any of those, but that tends to piss me off and drop at least 2 stars off the rating.

Well, yeah. Though a sequel to a short story is pretty rare. And usually books/games/movies make it pretty clear when there will be one.

ETA the movie ending for The Mist wasn't like that, but was still incredibly fucked up.

In the case of this story, and others like it, I really don't care why there are "zombies" or whatever they are. The how they are created will probably be coming, but that has already been hinted at. Unless the story is about a character who is researching the outbreak, and/or trying to cure it, getting all the details is pointless, and not really necessary, IMO.

I don't get it. Is Inception a bad movie because of the ending?

For me I don't nesseceraly need to get an explenation about how the outbreak started for me these kind of stories are telling the story of the characters in an apocaliptic world and how they are trying to survive and their struggles there are many great stories that didn't gave an explanation about the outbreak : I'm A Legend, A quet Place the first movie, home sweet home (manhwa)

The characters don't try to find the cause of this they are trying to survive and that's what the story is all about but there are other apocalypse fiction where where it does give an explanation but it's natural to give an explanation for example resident evil 1 the characters are there to investigate the place that had been reported a lot of deaths and they get deeper into it and find the cause of the infections the same with resident evil 2 the characters end up in an infected city they could just get away from the city and be over but they are trying to learn the truth about the infection Claire wants to find her brother Chris and she is more and she goes deeper into the city and find the truth the same with Leon he wants to find what happend to the city and eventually he find the cause of all this

My point is that these stories show at the beggining that it's all about their struggles and how they make it out alive in an apocalyptic world while other fiction show at the begginning that they need to find a cure so they find the cause of the outbreak so that they can find a cure for me I don't mind if it doens't give more details about how things had started but that's all my opinion of course

Remember - this isn't an "apocalyptic world" - whatever happened is limited to the city they are in (and possibly into the suburbs.) And yes, any movie/book/etc with an up in the air ending is bad.

Exactly that's why I don't care if a lab outbreak happend and the air came to the city or it was a volcano or something like that I want to see the characters struggles within this world
I'm saying apocalyptic because the city is fucked up I don't know what genre would something like that be on

Disaster movie would be closest. I would imagine if and when they escape the area someone would know.
