Ok, so for the whole witch part.
Both, the MC & Laura, should be nominated for a Darwin Award...like man, that was just beyond stupid...

Laura sees something (a shadow in the fog), isn't sure, but believes it's the para-military girl with a shotgun (which was rather hostile before)...of course she decides to leave the house and go after her, alone, for no good reason...sneaking up on someone with a gun is bad enough under normal circumstances, but in this setting and just because you were curious about her...are you fucking retarded
Of course the MC goes after her, i believed he's pissed and gives her an ear full...but the moron just thinks how he would do the same, he is just annoyed Laura got the first chance to do something stupid...again, are you fucking retarded

But what they find is a highly suspicius women standing in the fog and calling for help...so of course our good MC walks right to her thinking ''don't be a witch'', of course she is, got blasted and nearly died
The whole scene is so fucking stupid...feels like both only have 2 brain cells and they're fighting for 3rd place.

About the new LI, if that is the one, i really liked the first impression. Finally someone which can take care of shit and hopefully is able to knock the MC & co out, if they ever come on a dumb idea again, like going after a stranger with a shotgun...or just walking to a highly suspicious stranger standing the fog...
Also it's really a bit tiring that the MC is doing everything alone and then see the girls sitting at the shelter, whining how hard everything is.

Here's the obligatory save upload for anyone who might need it. This playthough is unmodified, and is close to an 'ideal' harem route as is currently possible. Was able to see all scenes thus far, and pass relevant stat checks (e.g. coming clean to Laura) as well as one can on said route. It also benefits from recently replaying the whole game after the last update, so it should be as stat accurate and as bug free of a start as you can hope for.

As per usual, extract the contents of the ZIP archive to the game's 'saves' folder, located inside the 'game' folder inside the install directory. If the 'saves' folder does not exist, you can make a save and the game will create the folder for you, or you can literally just create a new folder and name it 'saves' in the correct location and it will work. The save itself is right at the Chapter 11 title card, and is located in slot 5 of page 28.

To be fair, the family dynamics and how they're resolved in that one align much more closely with a more traditional holiday film, and I think you can much a much stronger case for Home Alone than Die Hard. They're both riding the line, but if I was in Debate Club and I had to argue the case I'd just be more confident defending Home Alone.
No case needs to be made, Home Alone is indisputably a holiday film. Most of the plot elements of the movie revolve around the fact that it's Christmas, the extended family being present for the trip to France is why Kevin goes to sleep in the attic and sleeps through the departure in the morning, he thinks his family disappeared for his Christmas wish, the family can't get an immediate direct flight back because of the season, and Harry and Marv are targeting houses of people travelling for the holidays.

just beyond stupid
I haven't played the update yet so I don't know if you're specifically talking about new content but I thought a lot of the behavior in this VN so far could be better described as incredibly stupid rather than some kind of response to trauma. Yes I'm well aware that people can have a wide range of strange responses to traumatic events but my suspension of disbelief has been stretched about as far as it will go.

Yeah I have to agree with you, specially the part with MC and Laura chasing after the witch, some other stupid things they've done could be excused as them being civilians trying to survive in a very stressful and completely new situation for them, but that witch chase after all these days with everything they've seen at this point felt inexcusably dumb.

I am hoping the new girl joining the team who appears to have some kind of military or police background will put some sense on them.

They were NOT chasing after a witch. What they saw was an actual human being, who turned into a witch before their eyes. I don't believe that checking out a passerby (in their circumstances) was in any way dumb. It's not every day that they saw some other person walking by through a window. Laura was following her (with a gun), not running up to say, "Yoo hoo!"

Man, Laura is like the anti-Kallie. Started out really well, but now I find her insufferable most of the time.

I look forward to learning more about the new character. At least she seems like she can handle herself and will not be another rock tied around MC's neck. The man could use some good luck for a change.

Keep up the good work, dev!

But after so many days of fog he has to assume anything met outside is a potential thread for them, he has seen it first hand that the only thing that was normal was that kid he saw and even then approaching would have been very risky for him as well.
Other than that he has only seen plenty of burned ones, the witch which from his few interactions he already knew they try to pass as humans and has seen other crazy people out there, so approaching anything outside a building is an unnecessary risk and even inside a building we have already seen that other survivors may not be the most friendly either.

I completely disagree.

They are getting nowhere fast with their travels. All they are doing is wearing themselves out. If they keep on like they have been, they won't last another week before something happens to kill one or all of them.

They can't just roost where they are. If they do, they are doomed. That means chances must be taken.

Something just happened that had never happened before. They HAD to check it out.

Meh. I chalk it up to the MC's hero complex kicking in with something that could reasonably pass for still being human. Was it stupid? Yeah. But he has a very well established track record of putting the wellbeing of others above himself, so this just came off as perfectly aligned for his character.

Now that I've caught up, yall trying to defend the terrible decision making that led to the witch attack in the fog are the kind of people who wouldn't last 5 minutes in an actual survival situation. I'm not saying dude should just open fire at any silhouette he sees in the fog but approaching someone under those circumstances is the height of stupidity. The cast has only survived this long because they're the stars of a fictional story.

Yes, and they could have tried to check it out or tried to draw attention without getting so close.
At that point they didn't know what it was, human or witch, it behaved clearly not normal in any way, which should have set off any alarm bell in their head.
Either way, they should have been extremley carefull if they tried checking it out...just getting so close was really dumb.
And that is kinda beside the point of why they would put their lives at risk just to check on that.

I completely disagree.

I agree on the part that they need to take chances, sometimes.
But going alone after a armed, probably trained and hostile person is not a good idea in any way.
And thanks to the fog she would need to get/stay really close to not lose her, that is extremley dangerous at best...
They know where the girl stays, so if they took the risk and tried to talk with her ok, but this was just really dumb. Like what was Laura trying to find out what would justify taking such a large risk ?
That Laura took the pistol isn't making this any better, frankly it would probably better if she didn't. Having a gun is nice for safety, but also a high risk, the girl may just shoot her because Laura could be a danger.

You all have finally convinced me. They should just sit in that house, cover the windows like one would in a blackout, barricade the doors, and sit around and suck on their thumbs until it all just goes awayyyy...

I didn't realize that I was in the presence of so many survival experts.

I'll just let you all fight it out on just what they should do, exactly. That is, if you have any ideas except calling them stupid. Saying they should NOT do what they did is not good enough. I want to see alternatives.

By the way, I've already seen what happens when someone makes an alternate suggestion. That poster immediately get shot down. So, I guess just calling them stupid is the smart play.

MC did what he did because Laura was egging him on. If he was alone, he wouldn't have approached. Peer pressure is a bitch.

Is there any humor or lightheartedness in this game or is it all horror, depression type stuff? I need some moments of levity to enjoy a story.
