Does this only happen with the patch installed? Is your pc set to japanese locale? Try checking if the your game version is updated and all the images & other media are intact. The patch shouldn't interfere with any images.
1. Yes, this only happen when the patch is installed.
2. My locale is US, and it still has that problem.
3. My current version is the march 22 version (aka 1.0 version).

I translated the 1.1 version of the game (the latest version), so you might need to fix that.
But first set your system locale to Japanese, then try again.

okay so any idea how can i fix this? it does the same even with or without the patch applied.


update: finally got the game to work but without the patch still wondering why the patch doesn't work even though I've already set the locale to Japanese.

Other than that, I only translated what translator++ could fetch, so all the text related to the plugins (some shop interfases, descriptions and some other stuff) aren't translated. To translated them, I'll have to directly edit the JSON files, which is a huge drag, or I'll have to make a custom fetcher (which I can't). However, the game should be more than playable right now.
If anyone knows a better way to translate them, or can help me with it, make sure to contact me.
Which version of Translator++ are you using? I use v4.10.30 and it can see untranslated things like the shop interfaces and dungeon status screen. So far I only translated the dungeon status screen (map009) and nothing immediately exploded. If you're on the free version of T++ then there are more up-to-date versions here on the forum, though not the most up-to-date versions since Dreamsavior added anti-piracy measures late last year.

Edit for everyone: I also threw since we're striding towards a full translation so I thought it'd be nice to have a good, updated link. I extracted the game with JP locale, added a Deepl translation to the readme and version notes, then re-archived it. It should work without any issues (MZ games usually aren't that finicky), but if there's still problems then the only other troubleshooting I know is to rename the folders.

Hmm... I see.
I tried it out and indeed, they can be translated now. Though on a glace, the text related to TextPicture plugin still aren't fetched.
I guess I'll translated the rest of the game now, just give me a couple days.

Always make sure your game version is up to date. (So you need a clean version 1.1)
The official version from DLsite will (almost) always work. Please support the dev guys.

By "text related to TextPicture plugin" do you mean things like how it says 宿屋「山猫亭」in the top-left when you're at the inn? T++ should be able to see that now, though sometimes you have to leave and re-enter the area in-game in order for the translation to show up. Even if your version of T++ still can't see them, it should be fairly easy to edit the map data directly using Notepad++ or any other text/code editor. Just find the section of code which goes

compare it to

It's done, everything should be translated now. The Installation method is the same, just make sure your game version is up to date (so v1.1). Also fixed and changed some things here and there.

- When upgrading body equipment at the blacksmith, the word for "gold" in the upper right is untranslated
- When buying skills, it will often say "exp cost" and "exp required" instead of "sp cost" and "exp required"
As I said, pretty minor things. You should look into getting a release thread for the game/translation.

Are release threads allowed for MTL-translated games? And idk how you get one.

MTL is definitely allowed, though there is always a noisy minority who complain about it regardless of the actual quality of the translation. You can list the language as "English (cleaned and edited MTL)" if you want to draw attention to how it's not simply 2017 Google Translate injected straight into the game. Or just leave out any mention of MTL; that's allowed too, particularly on games which don't read as MTLs.
