AFAIK - all the new versions require a linked Patreon account as a form of DRM.

You're right. You can either login with Patron or play in a limited demo mode. Dang.

The version i uploaded doesn't require patreon link, its the steam version. I tried it myself out and played around. Steam has both versions separated, demo and full. The demo has a different .exe called TreasureIslandDemo.exe and also has a small tag on the corner of the screen on the main menu telling you it is a Demo. The patreon versions require login, but not the steam ones.

I can't even download anything from Filen, with or without an adblocker on... It just gives me some small file with the same name. I also can't see the download button because it's just a dark ass text on a dark bg... Garbage site.
Or maybe my browser being weird.

Most likely your hardware cannot run it.

You may want to verify the integrity of your download or, re-download.
Steam based versions can generate that error if the folder integrity is corrupt or if your drivers aren’t up to date
