VN - Ren'Py - Trouble iN The aRena [Ep.7] [Sir Gary Bummer]

I rarely write reviews, but I loved this novella and couldn't pass it up.
1. The novella's concept is brilliant, that alone is enough to give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
2. There's a lot of dialogue, but that wouldn't be a negative if there were enough sex scenes.
3. The characters are beautiful, especially Ruru and Jarlina.

I can't give it 5 stars for three reasons:

1. The demons don't have tails. They would be prettier with proper tails (real tails), like (dasi_(yxxzoid)) and (Lady Wolf by ArbuzBudesh).
2. I don't approve of having two genitals or changing them with magic. Demons should have one genital. Ruru should only have a penis. That would be good for the plot and the quality of the novella's world.
3. There's little animation and little interaction with them. In some novellas, you can change positions and control the sex.

Bloody fun - nothing stands out as exceptional individually but the overall package is amazing. The sex is paced well, the non-sex scenes and story is quirky and funny at the right places with expressions to match. The MCs obliviousness is extremely nicely done and Ruru's approach to different characters is multi-dimensional even if the end is the same . Wishing the author success and I will be following this closely!

This game deserves way more popularity than it has. Every major aspect of the game is done in a unique way, which sets it far apart from most games that all follow the same tropes.

Easily some of the most creative scenes I've ever seen. Plus rendered in HQ, custom animations, reflections etc.

Dialogue outside of H scenes is humor focused and actually really funny, lots of references done well. Loved the monty python bridge keeper in the dungeon.

The NTR is also done in a very unique way, with the MC being a very powerful and acclaimed mage, and the antagonist is his maid who is infatuated with him. MC is just waiting till he can find a body transformation spell before trying to fuck anyone besides his maid, not at all the typical humiliation or cuck type stuff. I'd recommend this to anyone that isn't normally a fan of NTR but likes corruption/hidden sex, as it has none of the betrayal type feeling

The game is interesting for its purpose, but some things are quite annoying, the lack of H-scenes for the size of the game is quite large. Most of it happens off-screen and we only see photos. The scenes are very short.

The angles chosen for the scenes are horrible, the lighting and saturation are also bad.

This story has 2 POVs: an isekai POV where you’re playing a very powerful warlock pursuing glory in a new world and a futa succubus POV where you’re cuckolding the warlock (while still loving him, in her own way).

The isekai story is enjoyable enough. Anyone who enjoys anime and fantasy can enjoy this storyline because of its tone and references, but I do have criticisms. I found it difficult to connect with or root for the protagonist because he’s cocky, oblivious (hence the repeated cuckolding), and without any redeeming qualities other than magical power.--So much so that it never feels like there’s any conflict or risk, which makes it hard to stay engaged for as long as the storyline's going.

Then there’s the succubus storyline, which will certainly appeal to people seeking lighthearted NTR stuff. My only complaint here is that the corruption angle gets repetitive fast. I feel like some repetition is intended—the author wants to make it a slow burn and wants to drive home the fact that this succubus is going to meticulously fuck every woman in the MC’s party without him knowing. But I personally found myself losing interest after watching a third/fourth character corrupted by the succubus in the exact same way, at more or less the same pace.

This is again a place in the story that I think would’ve benefited from some conflict because, although some of the characters put up some weak objections/doubts, it never feels like the succubus has to try very hard at all to fuck anyone. When there's no chase or doubt about whether the succubus is going to succeed, no one’s “fall” feels sweet.

Despite these complaints, I still had fun reading this one. If you also love an isekai, I'd recommend checking it out.

Review version: Episode 7

Introduction:

Before we get into the review itself let's get a couple important things out of the way: NTR and Futa are both a big part of the game and are NOT avoidable. I think there might be couple scenes involving a male in the game, not sure as I skipped them, but that's about it, 95% of the sex scenes are all about hot ladies getting it on.

The NTR is pretty light-hearted and fun compared to other games, no one's trying to hurt the MC, so unless you really have an aversion to NTR it should be fine. Maybe just check out the beginning of the game first and see how it feels.

Now if you do happen to love Futa AND Ntr, don't even bother reading the rest and go play it right now because I guarantee you you've just found the holy grail, there's nothing better on this site.

Now for those that still need convincing let's get into it, as usual a review for each category and a summary at the end.

Graphics/art: 5/5

Pretty consistent and high-quality renders, you can check 'em out for yourself on the first post (actually I just checked and a lot of those are from the early part of the game, they get a bit better in the later updates).

Maybe they're not technically the highest resolution or whatever, but you can really feel the care and attention to detail that went into creating every character: the haircuts, outfits, body details and facial expressions are all on point. It mostly sticks to generic fantasy tropes (orcs, elves and so on) but not a single character feels like it was neglected or hastily scrapped together.

There's a few animations too, some of them a bit janky but making high quality animations is time-consuming and this is a small dev we're talking about so it shouldn't be the main focus anyway.

Music/Sounds: 3/5

Some basic background music and sounds, I haven't noticed any clever use of sounds or anything like that but it gets the job done. Bonus points for not using the same tracks that you constantly hear in every single VN on this site, feels quite refreshing.

Story/writing: 5/5

The setting is fairly generic fantasy (orc/elves/magic), which isn't necessarily a bad thing. This game does have some lore and a main story, although as of right now it isn't anything too deep and I imagine is setting up the context for some more substantive stuff later on. For now it's mostly just the characters going on small adventures and interacting together as well as sexy time.

The game is mostly going for light-hearted and comedic content, and it pulls it off surprisingly well which is quite rare for such games. I can hardly think of a single scene that is objectively cringe or boring. The game doesn't really delve into traditional "epic" fantasy, and I suspect it won't until the very end or maybe not at all, but I'm confident it would be no issue for a writer of this caliber.

I'm repeating myself but you really do feel how much care and effort goes into every scene and how much soul all the characters have, it's really a blast to read.

Gameplay/UI: 2/5

Pretty standard VN stuff, there's a few choices but for now those are either cosmetic or scene skips, better than nothing I guess. No minigames, phone interactions or anything like that.

Content/Dev speed: 4/5

About 6-7h of content as of right now I would say, although I could be slightly off as I haven't replayed beginning in a while.

There's roughly 2 updates per year with 1.5 h of content per update, a bit slow but understandable given that this is a small project and the dev probably has a full time job alongside this.

Conclusion: 5/5

While not perfect this game exists within a pretty specific genre (Futa NTR) that doesn't have a lot of content, making this game the best of its kind and it's not even close, which makes it hard to justify giving this anything else than the maximum rating.

So like I said in the beginning this is pretty straight forward: if you have an aversion to NTR or Futa this game is not for you, but if you don't then what are you still doing here you fool go play it already.

Trouble in the Arena is a hilarious game with unique concepts, well-written, hot as fuck characters, a consistent artstyle and worldbuilding, and the most perfect maid ever imagined. You don't have to love NTR to enjoy the game (it's not really my thing either), don't be insecure and enjoy the ride. My only critiques are that the soundtrack and sfx are not special and don't always match the renders and atmosphere the way I'd want them to.

I don't like the NTR games in general but really like the futa so, this feels like a breath of fresh air. The author has great writing which does not make me feel bad about the NTR. I just enjoy the game and it has fabulous render and scenes. All characters look great and have a personality and are not some wet noodles with tits who just get fucked. I like the banter. Good work. Can't wait for more.

Great futa game, great ntr game. The gamplay is linear so it's easy to follow and the setting is really interesting.
Ruru is amazing and the girls in the cast are cute.
To be honest I loved this game since some version before and the last ones just made it better.

Was pretty great at first. Fun dialogue with sexy scenes sprinkled in to break up the monotony, but has slowly lost its charm. As of Episode 6-

-The main problem is the chunks of text that never seem to end, text that has lost a lot of its humor and charm.
-Your choices seem to either matter little or not at all, so I don't understand why you would even have them to begin with.
-Next is that most of the characters are way too bland. They lack any depth or complexity. If you just read their dialogue without looking at the model, you wouldn't be able to tell the majority of them apart.

v6. i mean, the scenes are hot but your choices have no effect on the story line at all. the girls get taken from you no matter what you do. the only thing you control is if you fuck the futa demon or not

Episode 6 Review

One of my favorite games!
I would play this even if it were to have no H content at all.

Pros:
+ The characters are absolutely amazing; Saranhil and Ruru are some of my favorite characters ever.

+ Great interactions: character interactions feel natural and not robotic which is a huge deal for me because there are many games with better graphics, plot, choices, etc . but the characters feel like NPCs and I immediately drop.

+ It's a pretty funny game, and the story is awesome.

+ Good amount of content, nothing spectacular, but shows the dev is putting good effort and not milking tf out of this game.

Cons:

- The corruption pace is a little too fast

Overall, I definitely recommend trying this out for yourself! The NTR is kinda unique in the sense that you don't really feel that dread since it's wholesome and goofy. The characters are truly what makes this game shine.

Kudos to the dev and keep it up!

It's an interesting ride.

A lightweight novel with a humor, awesome renders and interesting characters.
The main concept is quite interesting, but can scare off some people because it has some kind of cheating. Though, I would describe it better like a tame sexual debauchery for all of the characters.

Based on chapter 6, there are some kind of things wish to be upgraded:
MC sometimes is too oblivious,
It feel like a better flow, if MC would start to have a bit more of an action at this stage,
No understanding why Rura is so loyal and subservant towards MC, but I guess it's to be explained more towards the end.

Rating this from a purely pragmatic view this would be an 8/10 it's good, good character designs ,story and overall visuals but issue for me was pacing but otherwise good

But rating from a subjective view I would say 2/10 like I knew there would be ntr and I wanted to check it out but turns out I'm not built for this shit and worst part about it is that some mother fucker said this shit was wholesome like what in the actual fuck everytime she touched my girls it hurt like a mother fucker cause I have this bad habit of Playing as the main character emotional so some shit was a lot to take in. If you want to test the waters of NTR just start with something soft to ease you into it.Cause shit I am never coming back to this ever again and am black listing the tag.

As far as the NTR genre go, this one is pretty tamed, I decided to look into this one just due to the high reviews.
It has pretty solid writing and a somewhat okay story? Mid at best.
The sex scenes are hit and miss due to the fact a lot of them happen off the screen. Only the milestone sex scenes are there and animated other than that, it's shown through single scenes or phone texts. People saying it's wholesome NTR is just off, idk how anyone can explain it being wholesome. But if that's your cup of tea, this is the game for you.

After reading so many VNs that didn't do a whole lot with their word counts, it's weird to come across one that I actually wished was a little more fleshed out with character events, but here we are. This is a fantastic shorter-format story. Stupidly funny, very hot. Instantly nudged into my top 10 of eagerly awaiting updates, and I haven't even finished it yet.

I haven't engaged with many NTR stories - not out of insecurity or whatever, just didn't seem appealing - but this one hits. I love making this pompous little Donkey suffer.

Edit: after having actually caught up with the game (should have before reviewing), the game does end up fleshing the character events out a bit more, but it apparently came at the cost of a number of great scenes happening completely off screen, which totally sucks. One character in particular just skips a huge amount of progression. Kinda feels like the game is cucking me at this point. We'll see what the future holds, I guess.

Wholesome NTR.

The game that is good at everything, and bad at nothing.
It's not great at everything - other games do some stuff better than it - but it's good at everything.

A genuinely great NTR game. The visuals are amazing, even if you don't like the style. The angles and scenes are really inventive. Even the clear NTR cliches used are given a personalized twist by the game. The game's renders are set in some very nicely made surroundings, which adds a surprising amount to the game.

The story is good, although mostly taking a backseat compared to its characters, which are all amazing and clearly distinct from one another. The humor actually works and adds to the game.

The character's renders are detailed with unique bodies and proportions. As someone partial to abs and a fan of all types of boobs I am eternally grateful to the dev for this. My only complaint is that Ruru’s meat, a pillar of the story, is just not big enough for a futa.

In Summary amazing game. Sadly have to rate it 0/10 unless Ruru gets a bigger schmeat.

genuinely hilarious, hot, and light. would recommend for anyone that likes fantasy, good humor, or enjoys the character models. as much as i like NTR and how important that is to the game, the NTR doesn't feel too intense or dark, so if ur looking for an NTR to break ur heart, it isnt here. this would be one of the best if this game if it was much more focused with a driven plot or narrative, so far the plot is developing but pretty aimless, feels a lot more like a sitcom anthology with hot NTR and great humor. would recommend just for the laughs alone

So enjoyable and yet manages to be sexy too! And, for those who aren't particular fans of NTR, it's not what you think at all! The "MC" (you'll see what I mean in a moment) is originally a massive douchebag and a bit of an idiot who falls in via the usual isekai tropes, but is humorously left with everything but a big dick to fuck his harem with and lose his virginity - trying his pompous tropes on the girls around him, they debuff him and his fiancée often has to drag him around and teach him how to actuall behave, which he slowly does, and paired with the characters, introduced and the jokey environment, it makes for a nice theme!

Now...for why this is really netori, and who is really a true MC in my eyes - the "MC"'s maid, Ruru! Posing as a maid, but actually a bit more, and with the ability to grow a dick between her legs (yes, selective futa, so if not for you, now you know), she shows off her powers and making things run while acting none the wiser, almost like a sinister villain who pretends they haven't seen something obvious, but in a much nicer way, her love is her master, but all these women around him and his fiancée are distractions that keep coming around and she has to deal with, much to the enjoyment of us as we see all her activities mixed in with occasional play with the MC and her continual quest to try and get him to accept that his dick is good enough for her, technically NTR, but in a way that is much more enjoyable, I found myself enthralled and still playing for hours

The story is very jokey and full of tropes, but pleasant and funny, you grow with the characters, there's no stupid 4th walling, and the elements of the story drive you to see what happens next, even if its tropey. Despite being koikatsu, plenty of custom scenes appear to be used, and the appearance of the various characters is varied and looks sexy, and some changes happen too, different outfits, occasional changes to piercings and such, good variety

Overall, a really surprisingly sexy game, which took me completely by surprise considering the tags and the intro, definitely worth playing!
