Hi everyone,

I wanted to know if anybody had difficulties with rendering in DAZ since the 4.23 update. I've noticed that my renders take an awful long time to finish since the 4.23 update. I've also noticed that DAZ doesn't render on my GPU anymore and renders exclusively on the CPU witch is taking 20 times longer. I've tried changing the settings in the hardware pane in DAZ and whatever I try to render on GPU still render on the CPU. When I check the perfomance tab in Task Manager, only the CPU goes to 100% use and GPU stays at 1-2%. In 4.22 all was good, now I've gone 4.23 and then 4.24 and all hell broke loose and render times gone through the roof. I've even tried to render in 540p to see if it was a VRAM issue, but it still render on CPU only. I usually render in 4K but however I slice it, 1440p, 1080p, 720p, 540p they all render on CPU. I've even tried those resolutions to simply render a lone character with no environment and lighting and still the render is CPU bound. Do anyone here have a fix for this? Here's my setup:

Ryzen 5900x CPU 12 cores/24 Threads
RTX 3070Ti 8gb VRAM
32 GB DDR4 High Speed RAM

Thanks!

I'm still on 4.22 as version upgrades always seem to be problematic in one way or another. Unless you updated for a specific reason, I would consider downgrading.

I read many people had similar issues to you when updating to 4.23, some of which were resolved by downgrading the Nvidia driver so that might be something to look at.

Is the troubleshooting log indicating CPU fallback?

Can you post a screenshot of your "Advanced" tab under Render Settings?

I'm on the current v4.24.0.3 without issues. And I don't think the problem is some kind of lack of compatibility with your hardware either. Strange.

The screenshot shows where the settings for configuring your hardware in v.4.24.0.3 are. I don't remember if it's the same location as in previous versions. Also in the screenshot you can see how I have my settings configured, in case it can be of any help to you.

4.23.0.1 No problem, the rendering is on the GPU (Palit 4090). Update your video card driver.

UPDATE:

Finally I had to rollback to DAZ 4.22 and Rollback Nvidia drivers to September 2024. AND now I have to use scene optimizer with all my scene, wether it's 1 character with no background, no environment or 18 characters with environment with heavy reflections... go figure
