Oh yes I had an AMD 486 DX4/100, Then later on I "upgraded" to a Pentium 1 !
So Yes computers could STILL be damaged by heat then.
The Pentium 1 came out 28 years ago and that was not the last time there were problems with heat.

I don't think his fate can depend on what we decide or don't decide to do.
It depends entirely on what he does, if he can figure it out.
