Hey now, it's also for sadists who enjoy watching the MMC getting tortured for FMC's enjoyment. Watching Felix implode in that one ending was glorious. The build-up was brilliant. I also don't consider the dialogue unnecessary, since it serves its purpose in establishing the characters to a very high degree of detail.

Also, this game's got nothing on "My Girlfriend is a Blue Collar Worker". Now THAT VN is one that's aimed at being depressing... for all that it has more good endings for the MC than this one. Not that I was particularly depressed after playing that one either... but most people don't have my ability to go into these things with the mindset of "This is smut, I'm here to have fun" and stick with it all the way.
Still though, it's not that bad. Like. Only Felix has his life ruined, and only in that one ending, and mainly because he refused to move on at that.
Because if she didn't agree to do lewd things with Zack, Zack refused to keep going along with the tutoring, he didn't care if he was kicked out of college. In that situation, both she and her husband would end up fired. That's what happens in the good for Felix ending. The two of them are forced to quite their jobs at the college, and move somewhere else. Sophie takes up a teaching job elsewhere, but Felix pretty much gives up and becomes a stay at home dad.
Once the game is over, I think there are two really bad endings, one for Felix and one for Sophie. I think the others are relatively good, all things considered. I thought Felix would have worse ones.
The villain here in all of this is undoubtedly Amy, their friend and the one causing all the problems. Even in the ending where Sophie ultimately chooses to stay with Felix, she ends up tempting him to cheat on him again.
What I would have liked is for Felix not to be so sexually useless, which would have made Zack's work truly remarkable, just as anyone who had seduced Sophie would have been successful.

Tbh, it's inadvisable to self-insert in standard Japanese style netorare (HC and Azienda are two prominent western devs that follow the classic formula), even if you are a fan of self-inserting as cuck. In fact, it's probably not all that wise to even really get invested in the plight of the male protag. This character is simply there to get shitted on. All this unfair shit happens to him through no real fault of his own (in the classic formula, the male protag is a good and loving partner whose flaw is usually bad sexual skills), and his misery is simply used as fuel to demonstrate the depths of the fall of the female protag. It's worth building him up, building up the initial relationship, the initial wholesome state of the board, so that the fall becomes that much more drastic. This has the side effect of making some emotional people get attached to the male protag's plight, but really, we all knew what was coming for this guy lol.

Man, Amy truly is the Bitch Of All Time in this one. You could argue that her advice to Sophie at the beginning wasn't that bad (probably the second best thing she could have said after "Tell you husband and be done with this bs") but I would expect that from someone who didn't know Felix.
