Patreon is just one example of a trend toward extreme hypocrisy, and their decisions are increasingly arbitrary. Some content creators inexplicably and easily slip under the radar, and that doesn't just apply to adult content. You shouldn't believe that their "monitoring patrol officers" scan each content to determine whether or not it contains something that violates their rules, or even something that is not politically correct and violates some communitary rules. Most of the time, they intervene after receiving one or more complaints. A few years ago, erotic content that I presented on the platform was banned because we could recognize a place - which in fact has always been known as a vacation spot for nudists and where it still is today organized big ass- parties to talk crudely - a beach to be more precise. The mayor of the city was offended that "his" city was associated with a photo novel (same thing as a VN but with photos of real people) with erotic content. Maybe I should have made a deal with him, like the organizers of the fuckfests that take place every summer do?
Are you saying (tell me if I misunderstood) that you have to choose between creating artistic content, or monetizing your creation? One of the main point is to distribute content from this platform, and not to be obliged to invest large sums of money in a project and to be able to start working on it by being sponsored by voluntary donations. This allows beginner artists in particular to get started and acquire what they need to develop their project. I therefore see no reason to make such a primitive distinction between artists and financial need. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a job that pays enough to make an artistic project viable. Otherwise, no artist, whether in music, cinema, literature, etc., should receive a kopeck of what they produce?
I'd be fucked as well
And the comparison between games like GTA 5, Skyrim and all other PC and multi-console games isn't really fair. You can't compare "Rockstar Games" and "Bethesda" to "Dark Griffin Games" and "DriftyGames." This is simply irrational. This doesn't stop modders from creating pornographic content for both kinds, though, which are probably the most happy with all this censorship.
