Yep exactly the same here, just played with girlfriend Kate and sub Violet and came to the point where you need to decide between them. Really? I mean really? In the corruption path you can convince Kate to have sex with random strangers but apparently a polyamorous relationship is too much for her. In the dom Violet route I could see that she forces you to decide (even though one could argue that Kate is insecure and submissive enough to be Violets slave as well)
Ah well, maybe it will be implemented in the future.
It's just simply that neither of them want to be in a polyamorous relationship. They're not comfortable with their partner being romantically/emotionally involved with someone else as well, not everyone is ok sharing a partner in that sense and that's ok either way so long as both parties are on the same page and comfortable. Here it comes down to, for me, even if you were poly its never been discussed so this is still cheating from the get go and even in a poly relationship I'd still be pissed this just happened behind my back and they've clearly emotionally cheated and never even brought it up before. I'd personally be pretty pissed off if my girlfriend told me she was dating some other person and then just said "But cant we be polly so I can keep you both" wouldn't you? (but maybe thats just a me thing).
For the Kate corruption one you never get romantically involved with Kate you just push her towards carnal pleasure and she sinks deeper into it, there's not an actual romantic relationship between her or Chelsea or any of the guys though which is very different.
Plus if we look at it from a gameplay standpoint, it wouldn't make sense for them to never find out or interact if Chelsea was dating both which would just feel very odd when you basically continue doing two routes that never interact. I couldn't imagine in something like Katawa Shoujo doing both Lily and Hanako's route at the same time I think if anything that would be pretty immersion shattering and have me be less invested in the route as I'm just fucking both them about which would make me feel worse then picking one in the long run.
That's just my two cents and opinion though.

On that you are certainly correct but in the end its an erotic focused game and not a real life simulator. Many, many of the events ingame would not really be happening or at least not in the speed they do.
The fact alone that you can simply decide if Vio is dom or sub shows that the characters ingame have a very "flexible" sexuality.
So yeah while in real life both partners would (and should) kick you in your face if they meet each other in a mall and it turns out you are dating both, in a game I am fine with those aspects being ignored.
In my personal opinion the characters in the game represent more of a "template" for a various amount of fetishes you prefer them to have. Kate is either a girlfriend or a slut, vio either dom or sub so it wouldn't really make sense to me from a gameplay aspect that the game is now suddenly blocking a poly path because "they're not okay with a poly relationship"
Just from a gameplay perspective of course, I totally agree with you on the aspect in general.
I mean that's the case for all of the routes though. The key idea is the player can pick what they want and avoid the sort of content they don't but also there is 100% a character behind each person and the reasons for how they feel. Kate, Violet and Damien aren't into someone else dating their partner and I don't think that's an issue because "its an erotic focused game". If were going by that point every character you meet should be fuckable and there should be a full harem route. (Again, just my opinion)
The aim was and still is for the characters and writing to stand on its own right as well not just as a wanking sim, with each of the characters having a distinct personality and opinions on things and not just be a stereotypical porno cut out for you to bang. Yes they each have their own niches and fetishes they satisfy (gameplay wise thats kinda necessary) but thats also how people work in real life. Some people like BDSM, some people like missionary with the socks and lights on, and some just like to convince their employees they'd look better with blonde hair and bigger boobs XD. I just think it detracts from the writing and characterization to say because this game has sexual content you should be able to date all of them at once, like in mass effect I wouldn't expect Tali to be cool with me going off and banging Miranda as well as we create Shepard's space harem just because the game lets you romance one. Again just my opinion and I know ME isnt a porn game but it has relationships of a similar principle where you can get all to a certain point before having to lock one in.
The gameplay/development issue with it comes from the extra work to get the routes to work in line together as just letting you continue both is lot more lazy and less immersive/engaging to the characters and overall writing and just doesn't make sense in context of everything else so far. So to do it properly and up to the rest of the games standard it would 100% need interaction and extra dialogue or changes to some/some entirely new events to keep it to the quality of the rest of the game at which point were hitting the big monster called scope creep and adding even more dev time just to be able to date two specific characters at the same time. Also if we do that for one specific pairing we need to do it for everyone at that point especially given the amount of people who ask for Matt to dom Violet too there might be a small revolution rising up asking why one pairing got it but not the one they wanted XD.
I get the want to be able to continue with both, but also just wanted to give some explanation and thought behind the other side of things and why that might not work from a character mindset and a development one. Reasoning aside, I'm always happy to help guide or answer questions if anyone wants to mod this stuff in themselves (theres a channel for it in the official discord server) and a full modding example and mini guide in the games files.

I have to say, this game really has a way of casually sneaking some truly disgusting stuff in during some of the more obscure/less likely to be seen events.
Like the first scene after you choose to be "friends" with Kenzie, where she degrades the shop girl who, if I'm reading all the story breadcrumbs right, was forced to have an abortion and paid hush-money to cover up getting pregnant during an internship at the mayor's office (because she was paid off so to not inconvenience someone during re-election time) - the tone of all that seeming like she was raped during that internship; and then I remembered that Violet's FATHER, who very unsubtly undresses Chelsea with his eyes right in front of his family when first meeting her, is that mayor (or City Manager, which is apparently the same thing), and very likely a rapist. Truly vile, and I really wish I hadn't followed my curiosity on where that Kenzie choice would lead - not that the other option is much better since Kenzie herself is also a rapist.
Mind you, there really do seem to be quite a large number of rapists/sexual predators and/or rapist-enablers in the game, almost more than non-rapists, if you start tallying them up.
Meanwhile here's me holding on to the cinnamon bun that is Kate for dear life amidst all that ; well, Violet too, honestly, but I do hope that Violet's routes also follow up on that thought Chelsea has about maybe not needing the dom/sub stuff and a more vanilla relationship with Violet being enough for her.

Yeah the game does have some darker tones for some routes. For the Kenzie one though I don't think the girl was raped. I took it alot more as her having an affair with a married high up politician and she ended up getting pregnant and was made to terminate the baby and given some hush money for it. Kenzie knows about this and the affair which would be bad news getting out for all parties so uses it to her advantage for the store discount. I certainly didn't get the feeling of her blackmailing a rape victim. As for Violets dad, he's confirmed to sleep around behind his wife's back already as one of the early things Violet says is she was hoping to use her Dad's affair to get something she wanted by threatening to tell her mum.
As for the rest, yeah there's some less then savoury peeps in town and I couldn't agree more that the cinnamon bun that is Kate must be protected at all costs!

I'm sorry, but I find your explanation empty when you can ALREADY convince Kate to service random guy with you.
If the characters personality was so strong and unflexible, you should never have given any options to change them, but rather put different character in for those fetishes.
I've seen so many porn writers get high off their own farts(pardon the expression), when they think they are the next Dostoyevski.
No ones getting high on anyone's farts here, was just simply offering a reason behind it all in both a technical standpoint and writing one character wise. If you don't like the writing reason that's cool we all have our own opinions and that's what makes us all cool, unique and interesting, but you have to at least acknowledged the scope creep and technical/development points too not just cherry pick one bit of the writing explanation.

For the characters Kate being corruptible, I mean again, yes Kate can be pushed to do more sexual stuff which then opens an inner desire and enjoyment for that stuff but that's totally different from getting her and a completely separate person to agree to polly relationship especially as when convincing her to service guys with you or corrupt her further she isnt in a relationship romantic or otherwise with you or anyone else, she is single, impressionable and ready to mingle as apposed to in a over month long relationship with someone she has come to trust and care about. For example if you date a porn star who enjoys her work it doesn't mean she instantly wants an open or polly relationship privately. Lets even say hypothetically Kate is ok with this, Violet still is not and just wants to be with Chelsea and not share her so the point of Kate being "corruptible" is mute as all parties aren't on board.
Again I just want to reiterate this is all just my personal opinion in an attempt to offer some reasoning and explanation as to why you couldn't keep dating both and in no way am I saying you're wrong to have your opinion, im just trying to offer some insight/alternate view point. As I also said in the post, it'd be really cool to see this stuff modded in if people feel really passionately about being able to date both for the whole game. Seeing fan content is always super fun and inspiring imo.

Frankly, this makes no sense. People have hard limits, and soft limits, and shit that they just haven't thought about before, and a whole bunch of things in between. People aren't unchanging automatons or totally spineless melts with no inbetween. This is just making up some arbitrary rule then complaining when it isn't followed.
It sounds more like you're begging for fetishes to be included and didn't like being told no, to be frank. Seen more than enough of that lately.
Those two separate titbits are pretty much why I read it as either straight out violent rape, or the less-violent kind of rape - being pressured or otherwise coerced into it ("if you want to keep this job", "no-one would believe you", etc).
The only high-up politician that we know around town that would be up for re-election would be the mayor/equivalent, and we KNOW Violet's father is the kind of person who acts in a sexually-predatory way towards schoolgirls, through a first hand encounter with him - and the way he did it then says that he can (or believes he can) do so with impunity; so he seems exactly the type to do something like that.
Rather than go looking for some other politician we don't know, I figure it makes far more sense, and is far simpler of an explanation, to assume that it was the sleazy politician we DO know - certainly from a narrative point of view, I think it's reasonable to work with the story beats we're given rather than assuming it's about some other guy outside the narrative.
