VN - Ren'Py - Victoria in Big City [v0.6.5] [Groovers Games]

Well, that was disappointing.

My rant is mainly going to revolve around one part of the game and that will be the lesbian points so nothing to see for those looking for a slut sim, you'll get that.

So I spent the whole game that is there so far building up the most pointless collection of lesbian points i've ever collected in a game with a supposed lesbian route.

I say supposed because one of the girls you build relationship points with is arguably one of the biggest sluts to grace a VN to the point where if this was a male MC it would have people crying NTR.

Yep, one of the female love interests takes dick every other scene making her the single worst contender for a lesbian love interest i've ever seen. It practically removes her form the running, not interested in her at all.

Which leaves .... well, no one.

There was absolutely no point adding lesbian points at all. The love interest is garbage, the Mc barely knows her arse from her elbow and the game can't decide what it wants to be. It's like your average corruption based slut sim but it's too scared to get in the water so gives you the illusion of choice which in the end doesn't matter.

Let's get this out of the way--the writing is rough and the character interactions are a bit cardboard. While the bones of this game are there and solid, there’s no real flow due to dialogue limitations. However, with that said, there's a lot of good female MC corruption here and the model for Victoria is great and super curvy. Based purely on my enjoyment of of the hot MC and genre, I found myself surprisingly engaged while playing this game. Hope the author seeks out help for dialogues, because this one has great potential.

It's not very good. The story is your typical naive and innocent girl becomes a giant flaming slut. It's just not written very well. The story is poor as are the characters, I doubt I could name them, they're forgettable. The way they speak also often has that this is not how people speak vibe you get from some VNs.

The renders, they're really well done. It's also rarely on one render for long, a lot of effort has clearly gone into the renders. The sex scenes are well it's harsh but tbh they're kinda crap. I ended up bored.

So it's a VN with poor story, characters, sex scenes but rendered well.

Like the game. The plot and the bacjgoriund is similar to Anna exiting Affection, and the art is more than good enough. I think the creator ia not native English Speaker since you can see a lot of grammatical errors, but nothing that breaks de game. Looking forward to the development os he story

- Wish more animations per update.
- Long time development.
Overall it's a good game, but like everywhere it have moments for improvement.

Great potential. This could really become one of those games, we all look back on with complete awe. The renders are great, the writing too, And I, for one, can't wait to see what this developer might bring us in the future,

Victoria in Big City [v0.25] - April 22, 2021

Story - 3/5
Not bad for the "moving to the big city" & "good girl gone bad" tropes but not great either. When it comes to the latter, I'm not sure if the developer purposely made it 'neutral girl gone bad' as Victoria doesn't exactly follow the good girl trope that well. What it lacks is a slow burn approach when it comes to relationships & sex especially since she's currently in a relationship & she's getting corrupted far too easily far too soon. If Victoria is going to be corrupted so much so soon, Katy needs to be a far worse influence than she currently is.

Writing - 1/5
In desperate need of an English proofreader as the writing is painful to read & is nothing short of horrid. The VN is over a year old (first post in the thread is March 15, 2020) & has had an update so there's no excuse for it to still be in this state. Literally everything is wrong from sentences not making sense, spelling errors, not understanding human speech in English to the point it sounds robotic/wrong, unnecessary conversation & I could go on. I think adding even some feminization to the dialog could go a long way & create more realism to the speech. In a game that is based around the 'good girl gone bad' cliche, I think some calmer language for Victoria is necessary until she gets worse or eventually becomes bad. Another issue is the font as it's hard to tell if the character is having a thought as it's hard to tell if it's in italics or not.

Art - 5/5
Everyone is stunning! Victoria & Katy are simply gorgeous. Backgrounds are great. Perfect.

Final Thoughts
Besides the writing being completely horrible & the lack of pacing that is necessary for a story of the "good girl gone bad" trope. It's still early enough in development to still have a lot of potential to be something good if not excellent with proper direction. The story does need some tweaking. What I would do is go back & make Katy an even worse influence as the reason why Victoria cheated so soon which can be done by rewriting & changing the dress Katy bought Victoria to something more skimpy.

Pros:
- Good concept
- Everyone is beautiful
- Follows the "moving to the city" trope well
- Has a lot of potential

Cons:
- Writing is horrible, even the title
- Story is lacking & needs pacing but it's fixable
- Bad font
- MC is more neutral than good for the "good girl gone bad" trope

Overall Rating - 3/5

Very interesting game with a decent amount of meaningful choices. The game is ambitious, and the future content is going to be really exciting. Great world-building and character development. It is still early on so there is not a ton of content there, but there is enough to get a good feel of where it is going. Seems like there will be more sex on the table now and it's not gonna slow burn it anymore.

A nice game with good images and a lot of choices between two different paths. As a release version the game starts pretty good. it is not too short. The storyline introduce all characters nicely. Not too many people are introduced. Hopefully we will have in future updates more choices whom to fuck or with whom to go into a relationship. Anyway this game have some potential and I hope to play more updates.

Great start to this female protag corruption game. There's nothing unique about the story and the script for the first two interviews is less than subtle, but it lays the groundwork for the game well enough.

The art is what makes this game. Amazing quality and even the stills of the characters when they're not being lewd are visually appealing. Decent amount of content for version 0.2.

Very much looking forward to the next release.

Final rating is 5/5 because despite the plot being a little heavy-handed, the art is outstanding enough to offset that little weakness.
