punishment? it's a reward
best animation in the game gore is great
but almost every gore game i've played has an option to turn it off, which i understand because it's not everyone's cup of tea, so i'm willing to bet kosmic is going to add a toggle in the future
I do not share these sentiments of viewing the character being fucked to pieces, but hey. The animations aren't bad, hope the option to turn off the gorey stuff gets added though
It's the only gore animation I've run into up to this point, apart from the blood spray from basic zombie mobs that bite you on a grab, but yeah there's no way to disable the gore in that animation. Turning off nudity *should* disable it entirely, but then it will also disable all other H animations, so it's not really a solution.

Where even is this enemy in the game? I'm assuming either the forest (since the last build I played didn't have it accessible) or the tower (since I haven't gotten more than a few floors into it)
It's the same forest level where you fight the Harpy in order to get the Air Paint. You need the Air Paint to activate the fans in a certain part of the level so you can get up to the part of that room where the door to the Oni boss is. Once you beat the Oni boss, you can turn into Nekomata, and exiting the boss room through the right side of the room will open a doorway into an area blocked by some thorns, and you can get to the exit door of the level. Just beating the Harpy gives you access to that same room blocked by thorns, but you can't get through the thorns without Nekomata, and the door in that room to get to the Oni only opens after you beat the Oni the first time.

Played through this over the last couple of days, didn't really touch the tower yet and haven't beat the oni boss, although it didn't seem too bad if you just use close range slides and attacks and take the HP hit since you have plentiful recovery items. It's definitely gotten better since I last played it, helps to be running with a consistent framerate too but I did still run into dropped inputs sometimes which really sucks in a game like this.

It feels like it still has that issue from Moon Rhapsody where it demands too much speed and precision at times even though the engine isn't really up to it. Not sold on the turbo-limited inventory space thing either. If it was two weapons that'd be fine, but the goddamned sprays count against that. Makes the game harder to design if anything, since now you generally need to put in spawns for sprays or bats whenever they're needed/useful instead of letting the player carry around all of the sprays and a weapon of their choice.

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Also that oni death animation isn't even that bad. The few Moon Rhapsody gore scenes were much worse and the unused/cropped ones make this one look downright silly, like gibbing an NPC in Half-Life or something. That said, I dunno why Kosmic hasn't added a gore setting since MR had one too and unlike here, the gore didn't involve the sex in any way. He probably ought to and then make more brutal death scenes.

e: Oh yeah, and does the last level seriously not have an exit after you beat the harpy without having killed the oni first? I was befuddled. I found no exit in that zone, backtracked only to remember there's a trap door blocking my return and no other secret route either. I ended up getting raped by two kappas in the bonus area and dying so all's well that ends well, but it sure vexes me still how the level becomes unbeatable if you go the intended route.

Went back to beat the oni boss by half-accident not really trying since I didn't want to waste my potions before a "real" attempt. I used way fewer than I expected and had plenty left over, turns out that thing is indeed super easy to cheese by sliding and staying close. I also used the kanabo to give him a few whacks in-between bouts of sliding back and forth, and started the fight off with six blasts of air spray but I dunno if that did much honestly. The kanabo ultimately did him in way quicker than I expected.

e: It's the fucking kanabo. It does crazy damage. I accidentally beat him again trying to see if it was viable, using a single potion just for security since it's free, starting off with 190 HP. Just keep whacking him with it, he goes down ridiculously easily.

I then failed to notice the obvious spirit thing you get for the nekomata form and thought "oh you probably need to also beat the harpy in the same session to get it." Used up all my potions, had to get her with the spray instead of the kunai since I didn't have any which sucked ass, somehow didn't quite die and had the worst, most nerve-wracking platforming session ever afterwards once I realized my error. Game could probably do with a skip boss button for reruns.

Anyway, how does the tower thing work? I noticed you can pick a save file for it, but does it overwrite that save or does that let you start off fully upgraded or something? I don't wanna test it out only to discover it's the former.

that's honestly pretty crazy and yea you start off upgraded the only thing that gets overwritten in your main story campaign is the items you have like if you have the kanabo in your main campaign and you replace it with a spray in tower and then load the story campaign you have the spray instead of the kanabo too, stuff like that or also since weapons have durability in tower if you fucking break the kanabo, die or clear the tower so it gets saved, then load story it'll also be gone from there
of course you can always just close the fucking game before it saves just when you die to avoid this lol

Alright, thanks a bunch. Add one other feature: the ability to clone save files so you don't have to worry about items in your main save getting jumbled up because of a tower run.

I do like how the game lets you keep everything you've collected even if you die mid-level without finishing, but the save system being entirely opaque and automatic does feel a little weird in a game like this. I did actually quit once or twice before the autosave since it would've meant losing crucial items post-death. I'd prefer all-manual saves tbh.

MR did have a copy save function yea so that would be good
well, in the meantime we can go to appdata local vivid dead demo ext v03 and copy for example savedata1 and then rename said copy to savedata2
that should work
but ya hopefully kosmic will add that feature in the future

...How the heck do I proceed through the Sewer level after I beat the slime, obtained the ice spray, and soon afterwards end up at the first area you drop at? Everything seems like a dead-end

Edit: Found out there's a route you can reach above the water area that's above the slime boss area... camera could be zoomed out a little bit, navigation is a bit awkward imo.

The controls are quite complicated. Even when I set the keys the way I need them. It became a little easier.
Question. How can I increase the character's pockets? There is not enough space for the paint. How do I keep my ghostly appearance in order to enter the sewer? What are the blue crystals from the merchant?

1. You can't increase pocket size. 2. You have to find two blue flames and remain in the white hair form. 3. The blue crystals are MP potions basically.

Here is my file which has all of the outfits (Yaaaaesh!) It took me two tries because the fucking game crashed on me to unlock this outfit you gonna need to defeat the bunny girl ear person without losing [To put this save file in you need to %appdata% then head down to your Local files where you find your Vivid Dead save states]
i can't download this file matey, it just opens the text inside it

can i just copy and paste it into my own save file some way?

EDIT: nevermind, opened my save as a text file and just pasted it

1. You have to swap weapons constantly.
2. There is a hidden passages in the sewer near the boss door (the final one, not the slime). But it's a literal fingers torture (which I actually don't like about this game personally) to get there. There you'll find wisps to turn into spirit form.
3. Those crystals restore mana on demand (consumables) if I remember correctly.
