The game doesn't try to be realistic, and neither do I want it to be (it's sci-fi with furries, duh). I just want its characters to be relatable, consistent, and more importantly for the only human being shown so far to behave and think like one.

I think it's not doing any other aspect of the game a disservice, or on a greater scale, for all (ero) games to achieve the same. Mass Effect had FemShep be of near super-human strength in combat, gazing Sovereign straight in the eyes on Virmire, and have sex at the end just fine.

You say that game isn't "serious", yet it goes into lengths about how telepathy works, how robots and aliens on planets light years away from Earth can understand and communicate with the heroine. The team behind the game obviously poured time and sweat to make it more than just a cheap throwaway DAZ slide show. They got themselves a talented writer, who showed able to write pages and pages about the setting, story and characters, without butchering the language, and whose obvious goal is going to be to tell a chapters-long and interesting story without entering any "this is just laughable" territory straight from the beginning.

To me, there isn't a single valid reason they couldn't make the heroine of this game act and think in a more "credible" way, to support the aforementioned purpose.
Probably because it'd be depressing as shit if the heroine acted in an even 1% "credible" way. Mass effect isn't a sex game. Its objective isn't to be good fap material. Mass effect is an awful fap game. The reality is that truly compelling stories, characters, and gameplay make players think about lots more than their fapping.

Why depressing ? Do you have so little faith in your fellow game authors that none of them could be competent enough to come up with a satisfying outcome after an initial string of "bad" events happening to a credible cast of characters ? In the case of this game, it doesn't have to be depressing if the heroine can turn her emotions into vengeance, or if she can gather some support around her and turn a weakness into a strength. That'd actually make a good reason for the furry wolf to let her borrow his ship.

Plus, I suggested to improve on the description of her demeanour and psyche once she is on board, after the abduction (and therefore *after* the naughty bits inside the tank). I seriously doubt that rewriting said scene would prevent anyone from wanking off to the game, just making it better and more memorable.

The reality is that truly compelling stories, characters, and gameplay make players think about lots more than their fapping.
There is quality erotic literature enough (even some hardcore stuff, like de Sade grade) in any decent library, and some games on this very site, to debunk your argument about well written stories not being "fappable". I'd argue it's the contrary. If the story doesn't matter at all, there is no need for more than pornhub. Why bother with creating whole games? If the story still remains somewhat relevant to your enjoyment, then you hopefully won't object that a good one is better than a mediocre one.

I guess I can only partially blame you for displaying such a mindset. Most people get used to trash if they've been fed with it for years. That doesn't mean you have to limit yourself to gobbling up crap if there is a way to treat yourself instead.

PS : If you thought that ME isn't fap material to some, you're delusional, in the same way that some people refuse to believe that bath water can be sold to the gullible masses in need.

Yes, this update is a polish on the areas we already had and connecting everything for future content updates.
Rest assured, the next update contains humanoid content.

You're getting steadily more aggressive and personal. Chill, brother. Nobody's telling you how to enjoy your games; I apologize if I've given you that impression. I didn't mean to step on any toes.

You can save in two ways, either when you press ESC and click on save during normal gameplay.
Or you can save during dialogues, by using the third icon on the dialogue box.
Right before the boss you also get asked if you like to save, which opens the save screen.
Thanks, will keep in mind for future updates. I swear there wasn't a save option when I went into the pause menu...

I got stuck after the assembly belts part. You get sent back to the area where you can take out the wires but she can't do the last one to open the door (I think) because she didnt take the advice of her friends and screwed around.

Check the walls in that area, you might have missed a panel. The panel where you can ignore the advice is not required to continue.

Carrie here, VoidBound head writer!

I couldn't appreciate the thoughtfulness or the feedback in this thread more. Because of that, I'd like to take a moment to address the questions and concerns I see being raised here, largely by ThisIsMe88.

First, let's talk about realism and tone. For me, managing tone in VoidBound has been threading a needle since day one. When I write Caly, I want her to be a coherent character who "makes sense" and "feels human." It's important to me to tell the best story I can, so I tend to take seriously the plot and the characters. It is no less important, however, for me to remember that the kind of story being told here is a fun space adventure.

Different kinds of stories have different rules. In a fun adventure, truly realistic reactions to trauma are simply off the table. So in VoidBound, my question is never, "How do I write this realistically?" and is always, "How do I write this realistically enough without edging into territory that infringes on fun?"

I expect to struggle with this for the duration of VoidBound. I expect to have to go back and twiddle continually with Caly's experience of fear, trauma, and pain to thread that needle.

The sexual assault scene on the urtu ship is actually a perfect example of this twiddling. Right now, I'd like to add more emotional weight to the event because I agree that it feels a little too much like Caly shrugs it off. By contrast, the last changes I made to the assault scene reduced the number of graphic descriptions of cervical agony because they were too intense. And, y'know, realistic.

I'll keep working to hit the sweet spot of "realistic enough." I doubt I'll always hit it, and I doubt that people will always agree on whether I've done so. For VoidBound, however, I'll err on the fluffy side, rather than the gritty one. Better to have players feel that Caly is unrealistic than be driven off the game by brutal sexual violence and its consequences.

Now let's talk about the plot.

Some of the questions I've seen here are answered in the game's text at present. What does Vas want on the Imperial ship? The bootlace coefficient! Why did she free Caly only to leave her with Haar? She planned to sell Caly into slavery, but Haar wouldn't allow it. Why doesn't Haar object to going on the quest? Because he thinks there's an outside chance that there's serious money in it.

Other questions will be answered later. What's Cava's deal? Why is there telepathy in this game when a universal translator is a quicker, easier explanation for a lack of language barriers? Did the Urtu Military really just fail to notice our heroes' escape? What's the first organic humanoid Caly fucks gonna look like? Huh?

However, there are still further questions which will never be answered to satisfaction. Can a small mercenary ship really exfiltrate an imperial battleship? Not in hard sci-fi, that's for sure! But in our sexy romp? Vas struck while the military was busy handling its invasion of the Sol system and Haar is a quite good pilot.

I hope this clarifies things! Keep the feedback coming. We want this to be the strongest work it can be!

Bit hard to say, its the first of the 4 main steam machine thingies and it ends at a black hole.

Also another question, currently there are 4 scenes right?
There are 5 scenes.

For the "black hole" is it a reversed "T" and the black hole is loacted right above it? (North)

Shouldn't the VN tag be added to this? I thought this was supposed to be a RPGM not VN? Dialogues are way too long for a RPGM game

The game is made in RPG Maker, so it's an RPGM game first and foremost. Besides that it's not exactly predominantly a visual novel, since it has action, turn-based strategy and puzzle-solving in it as well.

i was wondering would there be a gradual steam release date/ plans to release it on steam for a one-time purchase as an alternative to patreon pledges?

We plan to release it on steam and other stores eventually, but there is no ETA for an exact date when it happens.
