I'm not sure why as all you have to do is redownload the mod as there is nothing wrong with it, you just got a bad download as no one else has this issue.
But if you or anyone else really wants to avoid using Lain's mod then you can use the following file as I modded it so that if you start a new game it will jump you straight to the 0.9.4a part of the game after you enter your name.
Extract it in the folder where WaifuAcademy.exe is at.

Also someone mentioned that the video files are 4k (3840x2160), they are actually 1440p (2560x1440).

I just picked this game up, didnt expect this game to be fun.
Its fun to actually read the dialouges, unlike other games you just want to skip stuff.

Those 2K and FHD are old OGGs that he calls reworked i guess, while new MP4 and WEBM videos from new update with Tomoe are laggy, resource-heavy 4Ks.
bluecat lost his artist because of arguments with them or life things. So I think that game is dead.
Sadly there have been many great games over the years that have been thrown away by their devs for various reasons.
It's sad to see, this game is one of them. It seems like all the shitty games just keep pumping out content and the good ones don't get enough love on patreon and such and the devs whine about it and stop working.
Consistency is key before people fork over their money. That's why places like this exist. Because porn game devs are among the most unreliable devs out there. It's not quite at the level of kickstarter devs. But they are up there.

The idea in general is that the basic bulk of complainers are just that - complainers. The overwhelming vast majority of said complainers would never support anyone or give anything away to anyone ever. I've heard the excuses from so many people "I would if I had a job" or "I will in the future if I get a better job". I really don't care, but stop the fucking complaining if you aren't even a supporter. Its disgusting to even read. I don't support them and I think they are not doing their fans right either, but then I'm not a supporter so I don't have a reason to complain about it. Its like people in an uproar about their government doing a bad job, but not ever doing anything about it other than complain. It just makes them look like immature children.

You make a fair point. And while you may have a complaint its not a tantrum. I can understand the need to complain, as you say. But filling this thread up with nothing but childish complaints is quite disgusting. I wouldn't suggest to support any of the devs either, I simply think the overwhelming amount of complaining simply needs to stop. Or at least stop sounding like spoiled little children when complaining.
Also, I do not hover over the thread and wait for updates. I mean... at all. Maybe thats the difference? I know a lot of people are salivating while they keep hitting refresh and freak out as the seconds go by, but I only felt that way once and realized it wasn't healthy. Now I just come check it out once in a while and get pleasantly surprised if there is an update or move on to what I was going to do otherwise if there is not. I really do not see the need to complain so this thread is starting to look like a war zone to me. This is not a game where the dev visits this thread. Some do, but I would bet most do not. Patreon is their platform "for now" and so that is the appropriate place to complain. Complaining here is just venting to other players, not the dev.

These updates are starting to feel more and more compact. The dev is probably trying to finish this as soon as possible so he can get on to his Waifu Hunter game. For how long these updates take to make they're really short. This took me about 2 hours but I'm a slow reader when it comes to games. Overall I thought it was eh. Wasn't bad but wasn't nearly as good as earlier updates for this game but maybe I'm blinded by my feelings about the delays and lies.
It bothers me that that there's still no flags set in this game and karma still isn't implemented. It would take like 2 seconds to write karma -= 10 instead of "KARMA -10" and without it or the flags there's so many choices in this game that don't mean anything. Why save all this work until the end when it'll just be more annoying to keep track of? Also there's so many duplicated lines when choices are given. Like with Catherine on the train, you're given a choice to tease her or not and only the first few lines of each choice change anything then the rest is just repeated for each choice. Makes the script needlessly bloated (I checked out of curiosity and over 11,000 lines are duplicates. That's 25% of the entire script)
Elizabeth's redesign is a crime. Doesn't even look like the same character. Why even do a redesign this far into the game? If it was version 2 or 3 it'd make sense but according to the dev we're only 3 updates away from the finished game (not counting these half updates).

I think its rather obvious he'd rather work on waifu hunter instead of actually flesh out this and finish it.
I don't know just hope he does it right.
