prolly because they bump up the total number of steam games, which could be a selling point for customers to choose it compared to other game launchers.

plus, if steam ever becomes too strict, then it might be bad for up-and-coming newbie devs and might start affecting other small game devs too.

As much as I don't like the idea of lazy AI exploitation of existing IPs. I don't think this should be the job of steam to police a game for being a knockoff, AI or not. I think that's more the realm of law and a job for IP owners to defend their IP. Now if we are talking about QUALITY of the product that is a different discussion from being a knockoff. And by all means I think there should be a bare minimum of quality to protect the consumer (and in turn more importantly to them, protecting valve's image). I don't want PC gaming to become mobile gaming, no offense to mobile gamers.
