cannot figure out how to get off the ship

The huge vault door in the marketplace.
it's only open when the vault is actually parked at a destination though, so the reason why you can't leave is probably because you're in transit.

Check with the lookout on top of the ship, they can tell you if you're coming up on an island tomorrow.

How do I save in this game?

I've played for like 8 hours and only now I finally got to rare junk island with robots, assault rifle and stuff. Why it takes so long lol, there's literally nothing to do in this game after a few hours.
Anyway, is there only 7 enemies and 6 events in the game (not counting the tutorial)? Or maybe I've missed something? It feels like there has to be more content, an ending at least? Or it's an infinite game
