Check the candle left to the book in your bedroom. If it's burning, you can learn a new skill by studying said book.

There are a few scenes that are animated in I recall correctly. It's been awhile since I've played though, and don't remember which ones off the top of my head.

Saves are in the game folder, in the same one where is the exe file your are running to start the game.

There is no gallery in game. If you have seen a gallery in a video it's probably was gallery mod. The link on it is in the first post, but I it's outdated and won't work with the current version of the game, I think

yeah it won't, at least in my case it made the game unplayable to the point of not even letting me open it, and having to download the game again, so yeah, also always have a backup
