I think it's also thematically unfitting. It's color theme and style don't fit the pre-industrial low fantasy world at all. Something dark and maybe inspired by symbolism of a warrior culture would be much better. Pretty sure some of those cultures were the inspiration for the 'Wartribe' anyway.

I actually do like it because it adds a lot of tension/interesting character dynamics, but I do think there needs to be more choices afforded to the player to allow them to actually express distrust (even if they did have good reasons) and allow that relationship to heal over time/through the story rather than just "eh fuck it we're all good now"
Yes that is why I dislike it some things can be mended and some things unforgivable. As the player you need more agency and a choice to be welcoming or show something is broken beyond repair.
