No, you are right, it does. In fact, that is where the game was going, before it was so cruely abandoned. MC was in the middle of convincing her to become a full-on swinger. She had already been as a cuckquean, bordering on active particpant on occasion.
But, it's like, really towards the end....the bulk of the game leading up to it, is a harem thing, leading the wife to full-on corruption about sex in general. She was "up for anything" by the end, instead of being a nasty shrew.

Yeah, follow the green choices from memory. MC is a dominant who realises later he can sexually encourage his more agreeable wife (with courteous mod).
The path begins with him as a cheater, who gradually reveals his "misdemeanours" to his wife, thus turning her on to a new more vibrant sexuality.
There is nothing soppy romance style, except with one rather clingy young girl (the gangster's daughter? from memory). Most of it is admiration of a more mature alpha male attitude from the younger girls. (there's even a pregnancy kink option later)

I do sense that. It's clear from his attitude that he feels like the world is his oyster, but his flirting and replies in general are mostly classy. Even when apologizing for a rage outburst he's unfaltering. It's refreshing, compared to the much more common idiotic, insecure MCs that feel like 12 year-olds.

I think I read all the comments and reviews as it seems you did too, and then chose to only play the courteous mod version. I seem to remember that the mod alters the original script, and throws in a couple of CGs too, making all her dialogues much smoother. As I remember, I may be wrong, but either version of the game starts off with her being a "stale, unresponsive, middle-aged wife who has lost her sexual drive". It is the basis of his cheating ways, no matter what else happens, as he believes that is the only way he will get any satisfaction. I believe he is a cheater on any path...
I never actually played it without the mod, but I did "peruse" the original script enough to know that I wouldn't enjoy it with a woman that bitchy, haha. That woman is hard, man...
It really is mostly a dialogue mod for the one path, but it is the one that has the most content, so I just didn't see the sense in trying any other, because it was that good

I can only relate mine, and that is only from memory. But at least it stuck sorta? That's a good sign, right?

"Tension" is popular these days, but I say it doesn't really belong to a sharing path, and that's what most authors trying to combine genres miss. The trope of a "bigger, better looking" rival looming over your relationship is very well for NTR; but some don't play games to feel anxiety (and eventual release). This seems like another "play along and be a cuck, or resist and be cheated on" kind of game, where the agency is either the corrupted girlfriend's, or the corrupting "friends"', and the MC is mostly reacting.

I think the issue is more on how the dev understands NTS. From my point of view, if the wife is fucking around, and then telling the husband. that is just a cuck simulator, not proper NTS.

NTS is about sharing. If the husband decides he wants to share the wife then it is NTS, even though there could be discussions regarding how active a participant the husband should be in the sharing.

Take these four examples:

a) husband and wife go to a party, the wife decides she wants to fuck with another guy there, she doesn't tell the husband (to me this is not NTR, it is cheating, as NTR requires a component of humiliation or denial of sex)

b) husband and wife go to a party, the wife decides she wants to fuck with another guy there, she tells the husband after the fact (to me this is NTR, however many devs call this NTS)

c) husband and wife go to a party, they have discussed previously that the wife could/should fuck another guy for the husband's enjoyment, so she does it with his encouragement. the husband may witness the act itself or not, and later they talk about it, preferably while they have sex themselves (this is NTS, even if not my preferred kind)

Also think that much of what is written as NTS should better be considered NTR (and, as others said, these terms used to have a specific meaning in hentai, more stereotypical, where NTS often indeed meant dominant male protagonists "corrupting" their love interests for their own enjoyment... In hentai, both protagonists and NPCs are often portrayed as "types" and there's not much in the way of nuance.

Like if, in your example b), the couple have previously had conversations or experiences in swinging or sharing, and the story makes it clear that the wife decides to fuck another guy in that context (not just because she craves it), and if it doesn't involve the husband, then she makes it a tease when they talk about it later, and he "dutifully punishes" her for being a bad wife, then it's all fun and games. It's a nuanced scenario where the non-cheating tone comes from the story build-up and how the writer succeeded in getting the reader to trust the characters' intentions.

I prefer that to submissive wives - but that's just me, I'm bored to death with so-called power dynamics, one of the most overused and boring tropes. Give me games where both husband and wife are daring, horny and intelligent. But not if the author uses the wife's free-agency to create "tension" or as material for the player to feel as a threat to marital bliss. Or when the story is all about the wife's extra-marital adventures, and the husband is only there to be happy and horny about it. For my part, better when they're "partners in crime".

It's actually interesting trying to NOT use tags as universal symbols when posting. Because, in truth, they AREN'T universal, and that's where the whole mess comes from. Takes you time to accurately describe the exact type of sharing situation, or cheating, you're talking about without defaulting to NTR, NTS, etc. But I guess it pays if more people understand exactly what you mean, and aren't left assuming something different. At this point, I type "NTR" into forum posts if I want my post to be found (and flamed at)... You don't even need an algorithm to get predictable results

A bonus of using more specific language is it moves away from these catch-all terms which make it easier for dismissive posters. This is a big reason why I advocate this - don't use language that makes your enemy's job easier...

No really what you're describing would be loved by myself (and am still grinding on my first release in this theme) and many others here. I love those games where the focus isn't on sexuality per se but it's always in the periphery - Deliverance is the obvious example. If anyone else has suggestions in this vein please voice em!
