I agree, but I have a bad feeling about this game after the last update. The storytelling dropped significantly, it seems the dev only cared about sexual content and even that lacked focus. And that's after 6 months of work... And by the dev's comments in the thread I got an impression that he got tired of this game already and wants to finish it quickly and move on. He already talks about a new game he wants to make. Which, together with absence of updates for 6 months is... Sad. Really, I like this game, but I expect a drop in quality in future updates..
I didn't even play it. I only played the first few updates skipped a couple after that I was thinking of replaying it but I did a quick ctrl skip to see the content and after seeing the cult stuff kind of lost my interest so might just see how future updates pan out if I play it again or not. I mostly liked it for the AI animations , but last update I played had that forced Halloween special in it which I hated so decided to let it cook for a bit till I play it again and now the cult stuff is giving me a feeling im not gonna like the direction it goes from there.

Not sure I got you here, you don't like the non-sexual plot entirely or just the last update with the cult? B/c the non-sexual plot was one of the main reasons I liked this game so far. I argued many times in this thread that a non-sexual plot in NTS games allows to avoid NTR and cuck tropes without losing spiciness and immersion. My main complain with the latest update is that the cult and the mermaid, from mysterious and dangerous entities, were turned into cartoon villains. Basically this plot is almost ruined now. It felt like the dev had a much bigger story to tell but now it's going to be a silly side-story in a porn game, boring and not worth immersing into.

I think even the dev acknowledged it was a sub-standard update for him. I am hoping it is not a permanent change (trying to be an optimist).

couldn't tell you like I said just did a ctrl skip to look at what was in the last update and I haven't played in awhile and need to refresh myself with a replay. I just had a gut feeling im not gonna like the direction of the cult stuff from what I saw without context. So im letting it cook some more but I was already turned off from the Halloween special being part of the main story. But typically I do like non sexual content more than sexual content in most games.

yeah tho phone games are always HUGELY popular via patren for some reason - even ntrs phone has 9k a month- I know some people here like it, for me it's a pretty paint-by-numbers ai cg style phone game.

If I had to guess at the main thing driving their success, it's that they're able to draw in a large number of mobile users to the play the games, a market which regular VNs dont always capture or have the same ease of UI.
I suspect that it has nothing to do with quality and everything to do with downloadability. I know that I'm small fry, but I've had several android users point out to me that despite my best efforts to reduce file size it's still a squeeze and the number of people who use their phones to download stuff vastly exceeds those who use computers. So no, it's not a refection of quality or preference just what's easily downloadable and easy to read on a phone.

That yeah's exactly what I meant, I should have been more clear. By ease of UI i mean both the controls in the game, and the ease in which one obtains it and installs it on their mobile OS, both separate from actual story.
I could never play an AVN on a phone. shrugs
I'd prefer pc, but I can see the appeal - it's nice to be able to read something laying in bed.

Plus, one can't deny, the typical avn inputs requirements match up well with the limited input of a phone. And that's coming from a guy who would much rather play games in general on a PC. But it's not like we're talking about real time strategy games or flight simulators where you need 20 different keys.

I had never played MoonRipple before the next to most recent update, but I was highly pleased with it. Yes it was short, but I felt that it was a really big couple of payoff scenes that it had been building up to. I certainly don't want a game to be all tease and no action. I do certainly hope that the dev goes back to giving the player more control over the path and order that you can check things out on the map and experience and discover them in the future.

Just realized that the dev of "NTR Phone" makes around $23k a month from Patreon alone. It's so ridiculous that he hid his profits there, which is something I rarely see on Patreon. And it's a freaking phone game which I don't even consider worth trying...

3.6k paid members and to download games you need at least $6.5 subscription plan. So 3.6k * $6.5 = ~$23k in total

so, the surge of phone ntr games is not surprising

Yeah, it's not fair. SOOO many better games out there that deserve that more. lol
I've spent over a week creating one of the most unique scenes, ever. Something that's almost impossible, like AI doesn't even understand the concept, the amount of manual drawing, editing, photoshop iterations, ect..., cutting shit out, editing the background to be consistent for the different angles/close-ups. The amount of shit I had to do, just to make it work, was insane. Then do the sound design, work with the VA to get the right lines, make animations through an animator...

And then they just make a 832x1216 picture, without a care in the world, without editing, plopping it in there, come up with some dialogue and kabam, that's half their update after making 10k in a month.

Really makes me wonder why I even bother, haha

We suffer a similar dilemma. Really, if we wanted to make money the most efficient way to do so would be to create a phone story that lost of people would find easy to download. We'd adopt graphics that matched that aim and use a simple script to hang it on, probably with a good splash of established tropes. I don't want to do that. Yes, I'd love to be earning that sort of money but it's not what I want to create. I've got stories in my head that I want to translate into 3D visual novels, so that's what I'll do. No point in being jealous of phone games. They've made sound business decisions with the aim of making money. If you want the money you know what to do.

The world is a better place because of those who have suffered for their love of their artform, though it may have shuttered them from the world at the time.
Not the "lino-printers" making multiple weak copies of imitative designs through factorial process.

Take heart gentlemen, your work is appreciated by the lovers of real artistry, and though they may not fatten your wallets, they will fill your karma with good-will.

PC market is more competitive apparently. Mobile games were always lower effort games and with AVNs it seems that standards are pretty low so far. But once more mobile games are made, the competition will be harsher.

I wonder why Japanese (and Chinese FWIW) devs of adult games still focus on PC, given that for ordinary games mobile market is twice bigger than console market and folds bigger than PC market. So it seems that adult mobile gaming in Japanese has a lot of commercial potential...

Commercial potential?
The example used here, which I might remind, is probably a one in 1,000 case of some success, is not even a real business model I would adopt, if seeking commercial success.
$23k per month? How much tax on that? How much of what is left is paid to animators, artists, writers, other staff besides however many devs(owners) are actually involved? $23k per month is $276kpa.
I would posit there are many industries worldwide who are paying similar amounts to single employees doing similar work in other fields, supplying the equipment, office space, work environment, health benefits, perks etc...with very little risk of rejection by a fickle audience, and liable to withdrawal of funding, without notice...
And what about the 999 not-so-lucky? Seems like very unfortunate odds to me...

Heya, I am older PC gamer, I have hardly ever owned a console, I hate phone gaming and on the other hand I have tens of thousands of hours playing PC games and yet.... I had to spend 2024's summer away from my PC and I downloaded a couple of AVNs to my phone, I first played "Crimson High" on my phone and really liked it. I think the HS graphics made it easier than if they were Daz.

Sure, it is not ideal, but I still remember seating under a tree, in a solitary park in France playing that, it was nice.
