Honestly, to me as non-native english speaker it wasn't neither annoying nor misleading, but I can generally imagine similar translation bugs in german. In that case, I'd offer translation guidance, but couldn't imagine being annoyed unless it's a big dev like EA or so... ;)

Best example to get annoyed are chinese-made manuals (or maybe porn games LOL), were they nearly always don't give a sh*t whether it's understandeable or not. But I think that's leagues below this and the devs here are doing a good job.

Hourglass is just one name for them and quite a specific one at that. Sand clock just describes it and what it contains.
lol yup.
If I put half the sand in, my glass only times half an hour.
Maybe not so much point caling it an "hour" glass, in that case. :ROFLMAO:
Sure we had one, as a child, that timed three minutes, we called an "egg-timer".
As an aside/afterthought, I wonder if there's a relation between these objects and the expression "the sands of time"...
Well more than a fetish, I like pregnancy mostly because it shows the MC and the girl decide to build a family.
lol I get your point and agree.
But, just to be sure, how many families (plural) is the MC building? ;)

Sand clock is the literal translation from that object's name in Spanish. So I don't know if the term was intended due to the subsequent spell or they just didn't notice there was a 'better' term for it

Sand clock works fine, for me. (y) Not sure why the guy was annoyed by it.
I guess it's not really a "clock", it's more of a "timer", but I have no objection to the author calling it a "sand clock".
I think most people should be able to easily discern what is referred to, by that term. Which, to be fair, is all that really matters.

Generally speaking, probably. While water clocks are older, sand clocks would become more popular and considered more accurate because of their granular nature. (Water clocks often suffered from condensation or evaporation that threw off the time)

The phrase "sands of time" originally appeared in the poem "A Psalm of Life" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, by that point, sand had long since been associated with the passage of time.

Deserts, sure.
But that rules out most, if not all of the European landlocked countries.
Rivers, too, carried in the water, but surely not too far away from places where sand exists anyway.
Just thinking how that phrase would have been received, by people who did not have the association, or may not even be familiar with sand? Austria, or maybe Switzerland, as they're famous for clocks.
Miles off topic, please ignore my meandering ramblings. I just found it interesting.(y)
You know that they don't always use sand for those things, right?
Powdered marble for example. Blends of tin and lead oxides are another.

It just needs to be granular.

And yes, river sand can be used. Sand is just basically ground up rock and any country with a river system would have sand.

I did not know that they used other materials, thank you!
It makes perfect sense and seems rather obvious, now you've said it & I'm no longer ensconced with thoughts of just sand.
But I'm referring to places receiving the phrase "sands of time", if they are not familiar with sand, rather than them using different materials for sand timers, per se.

So, if they used powdered marble and called it "powmarb", or something, other than "sand", would "sands of time" mean anything to them?
I can see "sand" used as just a generic term, for any powdered rock, but presumably not for tin & lead oxide.
If those people always measured time using metals, "sands of time" would seem rather odd, as opposed to "metals of time", or something similar.

Sandglass, sand clock, and sand timer are all valid names for hourglass in English. Just do image searches in your search engine of choice for them to see. Egg timer is more historical, and has mostly been taken over by modern timers (especially the ones actually egg-shaped), but there's still a few hourglasses mixed in the image results.

Yeah, when I was a kid, we had an egg-timer that was a small, thin "hour"glass, which only took 3 minutes for the sand to swap ends.
Better ones had dual measurments, for hard-boiled & soft-boiled eggs, but we weren't posh. lol

Yeah, also without arguments and slander. (y)
Sorry, it's probably mostly me been OT'ing.
And it's only a few days since release, imagine the rest.

If the game had incest I imagine a shitton but without it I imagine every town you visit will have 3 at least

lol Well, current amount of girls with pregnancy option - amount of girls, is pretty high!
Are there only 2 without, as it stands?
That's already more different families than most people have in a few lifetimes! :ROFLMAO:

This game is absolutely fantastic and this update has been no exception, but God damnit I wanna see some buttholes. That's my only complaint. Not enough buttholes. And I'm not talking about anal scenes, just the visible presence of a woman's asshole.
It's a complaint I have for a lot of games. It's like game devs avoid it for some reason. Maybe because it's just easier to animate sex from the side? Or maybe it's hard to draw buttholes or something? Maybe they consider them too extreme somehow? I dunno, but it's weirdly important to me. Love this game though.

Honestly, I've intrigued myself with my own question, attempting to get back on topic! :ROFLMAO:
Anyway, back towards on-topic, Rose next!
What does everyone reckon the deal is with her? She's clearly very worried that having sex with us will lead to our death.
So presumably she's a succubus, of sorts?
Or maybe a vampire? She disappears all day long...
Not enough buttholes.

Thanks, I might look into it. I'm trans myself, attracted to women. I don't mind feeling included, but I just don't like seeing futa content put in every other game just to satisfy a kink. I like futa content when it's done right and when it feels like it fits in the setting.
I will often keep an eye out for those developers who treat trans characters as they would any other. Yes, a trans character will often have challenges the cis characters are not subject to, but I look for those developers who use their trans characters to give diversity, rather than a "Take a Walk on the Wild Side" kind of thing.
