they could be making f*ck you money if they did updates like before every few months or so. If they had other people helping it wouldn't even make a difference. But they seem determined not to. With the art this could be the biggest game in the genre but they don't want it
No they couldn't. In 2024 there's a limit to how successful a project like "What A Legend!" can be. Even the most successful games on the site would not be able to replicate their original success if their successful projects were started from scratch today. It has long since been proven that regular updates don't encourage more subscriptions.

Exactly, take "Isekai Awakening" for example. The dev updates monthly but locks most of the good content behind supscription to his Patreon. It seems with each update the game's rating drops.

I just want to point out that they do a story update for a side character now. There are tons of planned features that will never see the light.

Like pregnancy. What they do now most likely won't cover all features for the Ork character. Same thing was with the gypsie demon witch and the blonde girl. So pregnancy for all characters is likely an 'end game' feature.
There are still 5 other side characters and 2 main. And two old hags for the gerontophiles out there. (5+2+2) * ~ 2,5 years = ~ 20 years of polishing are ahead just to make sex scenes and some story for every character. Not to mention that they have to figure out how to conclude all those 'side plot lines' with the main storyline.

And only THEN they would have to consider the remaining 'end game' features for every character, like pregnancy. And that chest in the haunted house with the dresses of all size (even for the pixie) - does anyone remember that? Probably the 'end game' luxury too. You know, the kind of a feature when you've seen and done everything, just like in every other game.

Raising kids is hard and it only gets harder with each year. It won't end even at the year 18. Everything was already said on that matter.

I can't take the team behind the WaL as 'game developers'. This isn't really a game. It's a side project of a visual artist.
I liked this project some three years ago not only for their undoubtedly gorgeous art, but for the small things here and there too, like the 'camera work' in some scenes. But apart from that, this project is dull. Not only there is a linear story with no choices and with the mandatory gerontophily.
The sound FX and music are barely exist. What's with a game without the sounds? Back to the silent movies?
Despite all the polishing, their animations look amature at best. Unpolished. Which means they have the obvious flaws. Animations are really horrible with the last updated character (gypsie demon witch) - just watch how her body moves in POV missionary scenes.
Their whole process or approach to the 'game developement' is outdated. They can't do water scenes. I understand that RenPy engine has some limitations. But with the pre-rendering you can do any kind of a scene, if you have a skill. If you want an example of how IMPRESSIVE a RenPy game could get - please check 'The Hooked' game on this site.

WaL reminds me of two other side projects (not the games). Both of them, apparently, were made by visual artists who can do just their thing, which is drawing, and can't do games. These are the Something Unlimited and that game where a schoolboy gets involved in some criminal story with Russian mafia after his father died. The former has: absolutely horrible UI, NO FX and music whatsoever; on top of that you can distinguish the girls just by their heads and costumes, but their bodies and sex poses do look the same. The latter is a buggy mess with just a little FX and music. It also possess the same obsession with gerontophily (at least not mandatory like in WaL), the same lack of focus to actually finish the project.

I understand that people have to eat. That they started those side projects because of the money. I just can't accept their approach. They're milking THE SAME outdated, low-effort, unpolished projects for years. In my opinion, if you're already making some sort of a product - then finish it and start another! Then you'll have income for all of them! Not to mention your credibility as a game developer, your self-realization and improvement as an artist. People won't get tired of porn. In fact, they always want more. Which means you, as an established adult games dev, has a head start to be always in demand.

I don't blame the visual or any other kind of artists for their inability to make games. The Hooked prooved that a visual artist can do a game project with music, FX, UI and story. I don't want to say that all visual artist are unable to finish a project because, you know, they're artists. Absolutely not. In fact, ANY kind of a specialist do a lot of projects all the time. As for the WaL devs - either they're unable to finish anything (except finishing into the wife, which isn't a rocket science tbh); or they just don't have no time nor desire to finish this exact project, because the time has passed, they lost their interest and so on. But the money come and they're unable to say "We're done guys. Here's a sources, do what you want, maybe someone will do an FX mod for sex scenes". So they continue to work reluctantly.

I hate this. I hate the subscribes systems, the whole bunch of half-baked (haha, not even close to the the WaL case) products. I was inexperienced some ten years ago, then I was fed up with all those 'Early Access' shit in Steam, but now I urge you, dear users, to buy only a finished product. All the people like WaL devs do is feeding us crap like all those locked buttons with 'planned content'. It is as planned as I would just grab a pen and write something like 'do a game with hookers and blackjack. Hookers and blackjack is a planned content what will come someday'.

This developer is a refreshing change. They don't hide their game behind a paywall and it's always free to download. The update is taking longer than expected...succeeding in life is also taking me longer than expected, and I'm 55! The update is a certainty! [My] Success is just mist drifting off into the breeze.

Nice but you should include other stuff like debug for example as it's the one that raises the cap the most each time to give the full picture.
You are right, but the "Polish" column is actually the sum of "Edit" + "Debug", so it's kind of already included. Whenever something is added to "Edit" it's thus added to "Polish". I acknowledge that it might be useful to have the "Edit" numbers separate, but honestly I didn't want to put that much typing effort into such a simple chart like this. :ROFLMAO:

Doing god's work here. I believe if you collect the data for the last 2 years and plot a graph it will be a perfect 1/x asymptote.
Is there proof this dev is from Spain or has he become a royal from Nigeria?
Thanks, glad you find it useful. Also, :ROFLMAO: @ Nigerian royal!
