Actually, Pistachio addressed that (kind of) back in February (I've added release dates in italics):I agree with you about the quality of the content 100%. But haven't you wondered, how is it possible, that first 4 updates were all realeased within a single year and now it's almost 2 years for single update? Is there so much new mechanics, content, etc., which could explain that? And mind you, the first releases were probably done without (much)Patreon money, while the devs probaby had been working regular jobs. It also does not help, that the last update, which took 10months was worth 2 hours of gameplay.
When the update finally comes out, I will definitely play it as I know it will be great. But will I defend the devs for not working even at 50%? Nope..
So, let's see. Here's a summary of what happened in our first couple of releases:
Our initial plan for 0.1 (May 1, 2020) was finishing the first part of the Main Quest (what we ended up doing in 0.3), but we had worked on the game for a year and were very eager to see if people actually liked what we're doing or not. so I thought finishing Lana's first quest which involved interacting with a lot of characters was a good end for the first release.
I didn't want to release a porn game without any sex scenes, so I also added Maple's introductory quest to the 0.1
The 0.2 (June 28, 2020) was also unfinished because at that point we still announced our deadlines. We managed to reach this one on time because a lot of the things that ended up being in 0.2 were actually done for 0.1 and we had cut them (such as the dungeon art, and the blowjob scene with Anne).
Our plan for 0.3 (September 21, 2020) was something like this: each update we'll release a bit of Main Story content and one quest from a character. We finished it, and I think overall it wasn't a bad update, at least as far as players were aware, but I was unhappy with it. For two reasons: I knew I had cut so much essential content from Holly's quest to reach our deadline (still had to delay it for 2 weeks), and I believed that Serena's sex scene would have made more sense story-wise if it had been done immediately after the 0.2's content and as its conclusion. Right now, for example, you can play it and finish the quest, but those who played 0.2, were left hanging for the reward.
That's why for 0.4 onward we made two changes: our deadlines aren't announced publicly, and each release should come to a satisfactory 'end' (an end to a chapter, in case of Main Story updates). fortunately, our patrons agreed that each update being more hefty was preferable and here we are.
0.4 (February 14, 2021) finished Myrtle's story, 0.5 (September 25, 2021) was the Main Story and did two things: the release of Madeline from the dungeon, a problem introduced in the previous part of the Main Story, and Lana and the MC getting close to each other, emotionally, and sexually. - aside: that's pretty much what we plan for the next part of the Main Story: the resolution of some of the issues introduced in 0.4 (even if we haven't seen them yet because Lana and Madeline are missing -- we'll sort this out in the update's introductory event) and Madeline and the MC getting close to each other sexually and emotionally.
The 0.6 (July 30, 2022) finished Rose's story and 0.7 will see us finishing Gomira's. For 0.8 we have a couple of plans, but I haven't yet done the planning phase of Holly's update so things might change. I do want to, if possible, do it in one quest. We need a quicker update, for our own mental health if nothing else.

So, tl;dr to your question: the first 4 updates were released within a year, but the actual time needed to complete them was 2 years, and 0.1 to 0.3 included roughly as much content as a whole as any single update released after them. 0.4 was the first update they made as a full-time job, and from that point on, updates have only become bigger, more complex (if nothing else, because they always include some encounters with other characters that may be in the middle of their own quests, and those story collisions have to be properly checked), and of higher art-quality. Money-wise, they are currently earning around the same money they earned after they released 0.5. Of course, we'll see what happens with 0.7 (taking into account all the issues they have shared with us) and, most importantly, what happens with 0.8, as much of their credibility is on the line with that one. But at least until 0.7 drops, I think they deserve to be given some slack.
