So it has taken roughly 3 months to get the next update to about 25%, if I assume that the development takes the same amount of time for the remaining 75% it will take around 1 year from start to finish for 0.8?

So since they said it will be out in 2025 I'm guessing around December this year?

They are definitely not going to maintain a constant rate of output throughout the entire development. Even machines can't do that. I will guess mid next year.

It's not going to be a constant pace. Along the way things will slow down, the devs will take breaks, get sick, etc. The 25% is also just content, not polish which they spent *a lot* of time on for the last update. If I had to guess, it's probably at least a year from now. A 1.5 year update or so. Sad, but still somehow a major improvement from their last update. It's interesting how they've normalized this rate of progress when their earlier updates used to take just a few months while seemingly (at least as a player) similar in scope.

Not to mention that the development hell of the latest update can't be taken as a reference, including the abnormally long polishing phase in which they had to remake several scenes. That's not going to happen again (not in this update, at least), so I guess an October-November release would be reasonable, which would put this update roughly at the same timeframe as Rose's.

That would be great, and would surely help rebuild the trust of some disenchanted followers.

The update took long, so it indeed got the Abandoned tag based on the site rules. Once the update dropped, the Abandoned tag got removed.

That seems like a more reasonable estimate.
Does anyone know if they're planning to release the Holly update in different parts. I've a vague memory of them saying they'd look into splitting future releases in different parts if the update looked like it might be rather large. Of course I could be mixing them up with a different developer.

They are not planning to split up Holly's update; 0.8 is planned for release this year, and I think it's quite likely they will meet that schedule, because this update is not going to be as large as Gomira's.

They will split the next main story quest, so it will cover 0.9 and 0.10 (and maybe even 0.11)
