We all know the super popular heavy hitters around here that are truly great. City of Broken Dreamers, Artemis, Chasing Sunsets, basically the top, most popular and well rated games you find on the first page or two here.

But what about the underappreciated gems that are less popular, but still great and lots of fun to play, with interesting characters, and a good story. What are your favorite games that are less popular that many people might not have tried? I am thinking of games like Detective Necro , Single Again, The Roommate, Young Again or A Few Days, which don't get the recognition of the big names around here, but are great in their own right.

I am only interested in games that are in active development, or completed . Nothing where the dev is taking his sweet time with 6 months or longer development cycles. I have enough great games I am waiting a year+ for each update to get sucked into something else very promising like Unleashed or Summer Heat, just to be disappointed when the dev releases 10 minutes of gameplay every 8-12 months, where the game will take 20 years to eventually complete, if ever.

So, what are all your favorite underappreciated gems around here? Games that you love, but don't get the recognition of the more famous and popular games (active development only)?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and recommendations! I am always looking to try new things I might not have played that are diamonds in the rough, so to speak.

Thanks, Unbroken is excellent, but I haven't tried the other 3. I'll give them a shot.

Sadly, yearly releases (8-10 month cycles) seem to have become the norm, although the size of releases varies from game to game.
Tell me about it. I can't imagine, personally, collecting money every month for a job (sometimes many thousands of dollars a month), and only giving my donors something in return every 8 to 12 months. But, there seems to be endless number of people willing to fund these devs no matter whether they release or not, so many devs will keep doing less and less actual development work each month, pushing out release cycles longer and longer.

Yep, which is why I no longer do Patreon. I now only buy games on Steam or through Itch when a project is completed.

Most people ignore real porn games for some reason, so I'll make a proposition : College Daze. Really fun game, with lots of ways to play it. I can't think of any other game offering so many choices that matter. Great replayability.
