I'd never recommend something for being 'perfect' or 'flawless'. Because that doesn't really mean anything. Because it means something else to every person. And more often than not something else than that person thinks (because humans are generally awful at knowing and predicting what truly makes themselves happy).
For the same reason I'd never recommend something based on the idea of being 'great for everyone'. Because mass appeal simply means 'unoffensive to as many people as possible'. But no one truely attaches to unoffensive. No one gets emotional over unoffensive.
I'd rather recommend something that will have meaning to some than something everyone forgets about within a few days.
And so my pick would be
Acting Lessons.
Yes, because I personally love it. Because it plays with the tropes of the 'Adult Virtual Novel' genre rather than just repeating them. Because it surprises. Because it has a sense of realism that makes it easy to attach to. Because it doesn't just go the easy route of giving people what they expect and want in service of making a point many need to hear and embrace.
But most of all because it shows the power of the genre by getting under people's skin.
Many hate it for that, many love it for that.
But I've seen few apathetic about it.
No, the game's by no means 'perfect'. But it has the ambition to say something. And it doesn't shy away from pissing people off for that.
That's why I respect and love it so much. And I would want to give other people a chance to do the same.
