I happen to be a white European and mostly I can't put myself in the role of Asian MCs.
Often lanky, submissive (I think that's part of Japanese interpersonal behavior).
Although I do have a soft spot for Japan and am also a fan of samurais and Asian philosophy
(Hagakure, Go Rin no Sho, Art of War etc.).
I don't like the MCs that much in most cases, and it's due to a variety of things:
too young, too childish, boring, stupid behavior etc.
I mean, it can't be - that the reason for the main character's success is only
because he has a big penis and everyone else has a small one (or vice versa in NTR's case).
BUT if I like the MC (authentic, likeable, clever), I don't care what color his skin is,
even though he could be e.g. Native American, Tibetan, Maori or African, it doesn't matter.
Of course it has to fit the story.
... which is why I also find the black 'Lieutenant Mattias' in
the Disney film "Frozen" oddly placed (although he is likeable).
In the Musical Frozen, the role of the previously white Nordic Kristoff
has now been given to a black actor.
For me it's like if in the scene on the rock in "The Lion King"
where the lion cub is held up, they suddenly placed arctic foxes,
penguins and polar bears.
This is not meant in a bad way, because from my point of view
e.g. in a fairy tale set in Africa, a light-skinned red-haired Irishman
as part of the tribe who comes out of a mud hut would not be suitable either.
So, a game with a black MC is not only fine for me, but would also be an interesting change,
as long as the character fits into the story and the environment... and is not too childish, stupid, boring...
