Update frequency is bad? If you think 6/7 months per update is so bad that what I said was satire, give me an example of a dev that releases them so much faster with equal or better quality AND same amount of renders. I know you are gonna think of PinkCake or Philly but those guys make much more money and have been making games for a longer time, so it wouldn't be a fair comparison (and I still think Ocean's renders look better).

I couldn't care about summer's gone even if the girls in it came out of your screen and personally jerked you off. We are talking about WIAB.

And this game thread is for the game that used to be. Which got scrapped. And is being completely remade from the beginning. So the game doesn't exist as long as that 1st update doesn't come out.

Also stop with the excuse that Philly and DPK make much more. They didn't start making that much from day 1. They were consistent and released regular updates and people paid them for it. Ocean isn't going to get thousands of patreons just based on faith that he's working on an update and it's going to come out.

No one in this thread is calling him a milker or denying that he's working on an update. But the fact that there hasn't been an update for more than a year and that we have no idea how frequent his updates are going to be, I think a little bit of criticism is more than justified.

I completely disagree. If you want more content, you already have dozens of mediocre games on this site that pump out updates pretty often.
What makes Ocean's games stand out from the others are the quality of the renders. And you can't rush quality, especially as a one man army. And honestly, his update frequency isn't that slow compared to other VNs that I know (and those look worse).
Ocean is a very underrated artist, he should be at the top along with the other adult devs on Patreon. He works extraordinarily well (and keeps getting better) with what he has, and you gotta give him props for that.

I agree with everything you said, but we have to face the reality: more support and money is not going to come for Ocean with time-consuming updates. Many of the biggest devs on Patreon are in this position not only because the updates are good and big on renders and content, but also because they deliver those updates in a reasonable amount of time. And some even have finished games already which increases people's confidence that that dev, even if it takes 5-6 months to release an update, is capable of finishing a game.

At the moment, Ocean is an early career dev with no game finished, working on two games at the same time. One of them is not updated for more than a year and the other takes more than 6 months to update. And both games are slated to have 30 chapters and neither of them has even a third of the chapters released. How much support does Ocean fail to receive simply because people look at the planned size of the games, the frequency of updates and don't believe these projects are viable? Or because they just don't want to support a game that could take two decades to complete, no matter how high quality the content is?

And Ocean games at the moment have another big "downside" (highlight the quotes) which is the lack of sexual content. Yes I know, SG and WIAB are not porn games, they are story based games with adult elements and sex will only come after a lot of character building and development. And that's great, that's what makes the games unique. But again, let's face it. That's another thing that gets in the way of increasing support because many people don't think it's reasonable to wait longer than 6 months for an update without any sexual content, even though the characters and story are well written and engaging.

So yes, updating in a reasonable and consistent time is very important in this moment, in my POV. To make the game progress faster and increase people's interest and trust in the developer and the game, which translates into more support and money.

But understand, I don't mean by this that Ocean has to do anything to release updates faster, like decreasing the quantity and quality of content or working 24/7 and getting completely burned out. I don't want that and I also wanted him to get a lot more support than he does now. I just wanted to point out these things I wrote because I also completely understand people being skeptical and frustrated with the future of the games.

Ocean is the opposite , where he goes to unreasonable and impractical extremes to maximize the quality of the game.

Whatever equipment he has, he'll always max it out. I bet, even if he had those A6000's, updates wouldn't be quicker. He'd just make the renders, animations, cinematics and whatever else even more complex or do more of them. He's a perfectionist to the extreme, and that really slows things down.

He doesn't appear to be able to say "Ok, this is good enough". He just reworked more stuff from Summers Gone too, because the assets used didn't meet his requirements. There will be better assets released between now and the next few years. What are the odds he doesn't try to redo more stuff with those newer, higher quality assets?

Others have mentioned Philly and Pinkcake, he's pretty much trying to be both of them at the same time. The artistic quality of Philly + the content quantity of Pinkcake. Not to mention doing 2 games at once.

Just as a matter of fact, it's better to make a B+ game with consistent updates rather than a A+ game that gets updated every once in a while. If you want to make money making adult themed games, you have to be consistent and reliable. People support developers so they can make the game they like, but at the end of the day they still expect their payments to result in something tangible.

Tbh, 99% of games with incest patches actually restore most of the cohesion to the narratives and relationships of characters in the story tbh. If one or more of your romance options weren't written to be related, there usually isn't an incest patch. This game is no different.

That's what I get from all this. He would just use the upgraded equipment to try and push more and more out of them trying to better his work. So I don't believe you would get faster updates because he would be trying to add more to his story like a more immersive environment. I just hope we get something this year as we have a long way to go before we catch up to the old version.

I have not read everything but if we are going to compare Philli and DPC, Do you want to know why in some cases Ocean surpasses them in quality despite having inferior gear to them ? it is not because Philli and DPC do not have the skills that Ocean has, on the contrary they do and they have showed it multiple times with some of their scenes and games.
The difference is they want consistency with their releases be it every 3 - 4 months. They don't exactly sacrifice quality, they just add the right required amount needed and tot make sure they have plenty of content to release CONSISTANTLY, Ocean is a perfectionist and I have zero doubts that he has thrown out many renders that have been made but because of a minor unnoticed blemish or smudge somewhere off in the background he deletes it and remakes it which in turn takes more time.

Ocean could have had pretty much a bigger following and income on patreon of he just released more consistently,
I have said it MANY times before and someone else just said it a few posts above me too, Ocean getting better and higher end new gear does NOT mean faster update, him having 2 or 3 computers does NOT mean faster updates, This has NEVER been the case with Ocean, instead it always meant SLOWER updates as he would push everything too the limit and sees an opportunity to try new things, while that is all great and am happy for people to experiment and grow their talent in the case of Ocean I personally constantly dread it. Also again him having posted the update in SG which I do not frequent because I legit do not care about that game but seems to post a update over there and on his patreon for WiAB all updates are also pointing out to SG related stuff... We at the WiAB want updates related to WiAB not SG, while it is nice to know about his limitations he is clearly also choosing to avoid saying fuck all over here which is frustrating me even more, because it seems like he just does not give a fuck about WiAB anymore and is trying to keep us on a leash, because if he just outright said " guys I am not going to work on WiAB anytime soon and will be only working on SG DESPITE me saying and promising other wise...etc etc etc " it would mean instant bye bye to that support from the WiAB side that is a fact and if anyone actually things that all the WiAB patreons would jump ship to SG so the 1k would suddenly go over to SG would be delusional because most of the WiAB does not care for SG. Not saying because we do not care that he should stop with SG no but we do want transparency. And he is not giving any.
However working on SG would probably maybe give him more patreons on that side if he starts to give consistent updates as people will notice hey he releases something every 3 - 4 months so eventually he gets more. That would work, but again just come outright and say it so I know if I should bother coming here or not.

Best case scenario after that is, update drops maybe at the end of October. Worst case scenario, we get a brief dev log with maybe a render, followed another two-ish months of radio silence before another Patreon post and the cycle continues.
