I pirate a lot of movies and video games, is a VPN alone enough or is a browser like TOR needed? why do people need to use both at the same time? I hate that after I search something or talk about something I later get something related about it in my news feed, its like my internet provider is selling my info and less than a day later I get swarmed by it.

I know names like express or surfshark, no idea if these are any good. I have no problem paying for a real VPN, non of that free bullshit that's probably selling my info just like met net provider. I just want the VPN to be fast and safe, and if it can help me get free netflix or unlimited Mega downloading capacity that will be a bonus.

important to note, I don't want a VPN for dark web or whatever horrifying stuff is out there. I might google the words 3d loli when looking for games but that's as far as I go (google blocks most of the bad sites anyway so I don't have to worry about entering a really bad website) the place I live probably doesn't give a shit but I still rather protect myself, you know how the media now days. what if I ever get famous and they find out I've been playing HS tutor :D I also use other sites and these don't have an outside download area like F95Zone, sometimes you download directly from the sites so that's another problem to not have a VPN to fix.

If you want a VPN to be fast then go for NordVPN, they have their own " NordLynx" protocol, which is way faster than openvpn (that most vpns use), it also has a strong no logs policy so its basically untrackable, even if the feds send them a subpoena. I am using them for like half a year now and am extremelly satisfied with them, its also extremely easy to control via their app

Nordvpn isn't untraceable. There is a good video from tom scott on youtube about that topic.
But Nordvpn is fine.
I heard good things about mullvard vpn. But it's expensive.
Also you should look into stuff like kill switches. Some torrentclients, like qbittorrent have them. Go to r/torrents on reddit. They have a wiki about that stuff.

I use a Browsec Extension for Opera Browser. It looks like enough for this type of activity.

are you sure? this webtsite has many games that are... well full pedo but don't touch rule 7 because they are cartoony. which is weird, because you would assume 3d games had the same deal

Hmm. If this kind of cartoon is prohibited in your country, a free extension is not the solution.

I use Private Internet Access. Works great and pretty reasonable in terms of pricing. Other than your initial contact with the company to establish payment no other personal information is shared. Everything is generated via a RNG and you also get access to a Sock5 proxy for torrents.

Mullvad

You can literally send a letter with a $20 bill in it and a slip of paper with an account number and mail it to them with a stamp and you get your VPN paid for. No way to tie it to you like with a credit card, email, etc. You can use crypto to. They dont log anything as well.

NordVPN. It's enough for casual usage; TOR you really only need if you're doing highly dubious stuff, or your government is highly dubious. Or both. Keep in mind that TOR is rare enough that they can pick out the traffic, so... a highly dubious government would likely notice that you're using it.

Also, I'm quite enjoying the new Brave browser. Built in TOR browser, if you need it, and it has a pretty strong built-in anti-ad system. It's especially useful on mobile, since 3rd party ad-blockers are unusable on Chrome and Firefox on Android.

Guys the best and most annonymous VPN is MULLVAD - its open source and cheap at only 5euro per month.
NO BS, no bullshit, no weak connections, and no selling your email and credit card details.
You can pay by bitcoin or any other annon method you like

I buy premium SSH account for 1$ and its working great and somehow it let me access full speed after my network reach maximum data usage, this save me alot of money (I don't know how this work) have been using this for 2 month now and it let me browse through unblocked site like f95zone. Now my monthly data usage almost 1 TB

Ever since dez 2020, when my facist government convinced Steam to stop selling Adult Only content in my country, i was thinking of upgrading to a "full" VPN - been using a free browser extentions and TOR for years.
But I'm not willing to pay as I believe that if VPNs could really do all the shit they promise you, it would be rather naive to think that governments would just leave them be and even allow them to advertice.

So if anyone has a free one, hook me up...but I [X] doubt that.

[Edit] Forgot the obligatory:

Honestly, even countries that *are* actively fucking with this don't want to hurt VPNs too badly. Like China.

This is because most MNCs use VPNs to integrate you into their intranet (they weren't originally for porn), and without it their staff just cannot work in that country. Even China cannot (yet) operate if *no* major foreign company will do work there.

As such, it's a service, and if you want a decent service you should pay for it. If you're not the customer, you're the product. Feel free to use a free one; I'll leave it up to you to guess how they pay for the gigs you download. Others are explicitly pro anonymity. Check out NordVPN, ExpressVPN, etc.

For extra security... don't tie your VPN to your credit-card, use an intermediary like Etherium.

Picking a VPN is a huge pain in the ass because 95% of VPN "advice" on the internet is paid-for affiliate marketing. So you try to get opinions from users and once you made it through forum threads full of paranoid people's delusions and their super smart theories about internet security, you will always find some reason you shouldn't use any VPN that exists. That being said any VPN is better than no VPN, but as Droid Productions said, you get what you pay for.

As someone who has been using NordVPN for a while I'd not recommend it mainly because its so prone to crashes also too many bugs for my taste. It is prime example of bad product thats popular because of aggressive marketing.

I suggest giving ProtonVPN a try. It's from the same company that brought us ProtonMail.
