Why devs instead of making Ntr optional make you chose NTR On / Off before even starting the game?

i downloaded a game named "never back down" yesterday and immediately at the start of the game you have to chose if you want to turn NTR off, happened me this same thing just a couple days ago with "Max's Life" , I hate that devs do that, you are about to start a game and before you know anything or even meet the characters they ask you if you want to turn off the NTR, you literally don't have idea what the difference will be but are forced to take a MAJOR choice that will affect ALL the game :(.

Why they don't do it optional IN game when you really know what are you agreeing or maybe i want to let it happen with a character but protect another one?

Roadmap for an NTR-dev:
Step 1: Start a game with avoidable NTR, people start to whine.
Step 2: Add an option to turn off NTR, but people still whine.
Step 3: Remove the option (less work to do, just ignore the whiners) or delete NTR forever.

The solution is quite simple: make two entirely different paths, one with ntr and the other one without.

Alternative option:
Step 1: Release 2 versions of the game - one completely without NTR and one with optional NTR
Step 2: Watch people whine because they accidentally downloaded the one with NTR and their dick fell off.

Because of sensitive players and devs adding NTR for whatever reasons. Maybe collecting genre tags to appeal to the wider audience, but still trying to appeal sensitive players.
Most of tbe times it's a couple of scene and forget about it. Idk, feels like a waste of time. I don't think NTR players care for games with so little content of that stuff.

I appreciate it when developers allow me to disable scat or guro, or or vore, etc. The option to disable NTR isn't any different given how divisive it is. It's not a matter of people being whiny, it's a matter of knowing that what you like is niche, and allowing other people to enjoy your work to it's fullest.

Giving a short answer... any sex scene of scat, guro or vore would be incredibly disgusting to any person without that fetish, in the case of NTR what people hate is the context of the scene, usually if you just took the sex scene out of it people would be okay with it, even more visual novels that feature NTR make it annoyingly clear which options get you to it, which I personally find even insulting towards the players but that's another point.

P.D: NTR is a situation that can be useful outside of the fetish, be it as the starting motivation for the story or as an element of danger during the gameplay. Those uses are totally outside of the fetish and it's exactly something I find it interesting, but well this isn't limited ot NTR, for example having dominant characters try to impose on the MC can be as interesting if not more, overall what is necessary for most games to be funny to play is to have something that opposes us on our objectives, if we lack that it's just porn.

You could say the same thing about gender bender though (being context, not visuals).

As for NTR, you just explained why the option to disable it is good for both sides. For people like you who hate NTR routes being too obvious, the developer can then make it as vague as they want, because players who don't want to see it can disable it from the start.

Step one: Create post about NTR
Step two: Witness more people complaining about people complaining about NTR than people actually complaining about NTR
Step three: Make confusion noises
Step four: Realise that most people making fun of those who complain about NTR don't like or care about NTR to beggin with.
Step five (optional): Realise that we have at least 2 thread per week complaining about "Why so much NTR?" when the tag has less than 6% of use [ ].

Everyone has their own opinions about this. Myself I don't care either way how they do it, as long as its avoidable in some fashion, whether its a switch or another route is irrelevant to me. If its not avoidable I just move on usually.

Only if you take NTR as a fetish it can be okay to make it an option, games need some kind of challenge to be called that, it can be risk of NTR, harem management, or a character in love with the MC that has an undesirable trait (obsessive love, sadism...), all those can provide a decent gameplay and experience.

That's what I'm trying to point out, that as a gameplay element can be valuable, and what it means for a gameplay element is that a good management can succeed at evading it and that's the point. You don't add said element out of the fetish wishes of your public but because it adds to the gameplay.

Of course if you just make 2 separates routes it is perfectly fine to just be able to disable NTR to never make a mistake, but I have to say that if we talk about that situation it would make more sense to actually ignore one of the routes, literally it's like doing 2 games at the same time and you will have players unsatisfied because of the development of the other and having a conflicted player base, but that's just my opinion.

But, you know what difference it will make ; it will turn the game NTR free. If from your point of view it imply more differences, in the story by example, then it mean that NTR do not bother you, or at least not this much, and you can simply let it On.

They don't make the NTR content optional in game because knowing what you are agreeing for is something really relative.
You've (too many) players who don't think about the possible consequences before clicking on this or that. Therefore, you find NTR haters who simply click on "let you girl go to a frat party full of horny guys that will make her drink and who know what will happen", then complain that the girl was drunk at a frat party full of horny guys and had sex with them.
They are idiots, but idiots like them exist and some devs have enough of their shit. So, they put a big "Do you want NTR content" at start of the game, expecting for them to at least think about the consequences of this particular choice ; experience proved that even there, not all think about the consequences :(
