I hope I am wrong and I am just reading too much 'between the lines', but it really sounds like another round of stamina nerfs and unneeded grind has been added to the game ... along with 'stuff to do'.
Just throwing out random thoughts while we wait for a hero to hook us up with the new version.
I'm sorta left scratching my head with some of this as well. Its hard to imagine whats going thru the devs mind sometimes, but I can tell you it aint the same shit going thru my mind.

Also, as Ramirod has said there has been some discussion about this in discord. I rarely visit that place, but after reading about the limited resources change I had to see if this was going to be like stamina regen, meaning I'll be the solo opposition to it in that place. But it seems others are pushing back on it to some extent. Not sure if any of that will get much momentum, but maybe it will all pan out in the end. After all, remember the worry about base lighting when crystals were added to the evercoal recipe? Well now that worry is unwarranted completely as all the decor lighting is easy to craft and works like an on/off switch making it easier to light up a base at night than ever before. I didn't see that one coming so maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised again. I'm just trying to be optimistic first because there are some other interesting things in that changelog as well. Being able to get a stamina regen buff just from eating food sounds interesting for example.

It would be nice if the dev talked a bit about these types of changes and why he wants to add them since it affects so much because I'm sorta left here scratching my head at the direction he takes sometimes. I've archived every version of this game since 8.5.4 because this is not uncommon behavior in 3d game devs. Sometimes reverting to or simply staying in an older version of the game can be a better option.

I agree with what you said and I do try to be optimistic, but when crap like the no respawn on trees and ore are added out of the blue with no explanations, my optimism taps my pessimism on the shoulder and says 'Your turn'.

I really wish the dev would stop half assing updates like that though.
Throwing out some craptacular nerf in one update without a single word about why and then adding an alternative system in the next update rather sucks.
It wouldn't surprise me if the dev was going to add some mechanism to replant trees or activate some craftable 'magic crystal' that helps re-seed ores, but with nothing to go on, it is just one giant nerf.

The stamina nerfs are annoying indeed. I can see the devs point though, survival game and its supposed to be struggling, especially since its a FMC porn game with buffed beasts everywhere. But yeah it gets tedious. I will play it tomorrow night so I dont know myself how it is in game yet as of the update, but the problem with stamina is that it already tanks fast, and adding extra hp/stamina to the bar doesnt really change much since it depletes so easily anyways, and the extra stamina wont do nothing to you once it is tanked - which happens way too often even with buffs. In RDR2 they have cores for HP, stamina and then the outer bar which is the actual used stamina - if the core is full, stamina will deplete slower - something like that would be a good solution in this game to counteract all the depletion of it. Like eat food to have stamina/hp deplete slower instead of just increasing some of it on the bar - that would balance it out better maybe? But i dunno, will play tomorrow and see how it is.

Then regarding ore, tree, resources respawns - I heard its a miscommunication - it shouldnt disappear, only respawn slower. Also heard there are more spawn points for resources. I dont know though will try it tomorrow.

Another thing I think is lacking is the building aspect. So far it barely has any functional advantages - only cosmetical. To me, that really takes away the purpose of engaging in it. Sure, cool, build a castle. Would have been way more fun if they removed the fisher cabin and also added something to incentivice to build something of your own, to protect you from beasts etc. As of now you can simply just camp on a hill and you will be fine. There should be a reason to fortify and I hope they focus on the building-survival aspect in the future.

Too true, my friend. This is my life cycle. Feels good when you have a positive outlook, but feels bad when it just leaves you exposed for a steamy turd to fall on your head.

I was talking with another discord user and we came up with the idea to have a day long orgy ritual with Sylva that grows the trees back. I think the dev wants players forced into the sexual content leaning heavily on the submissive part so maybe getting monsters involved would entice him to look for alternatives or some means to un-limit the resources we want/need to enjoy the game.

I do imagine tho that cutting down an area in the forest to build a base would be interesting. The trees won't grow back so it would open the door to a wide range of previously unimagined possibilities.

I've beat that stamina horse argument into the ground so I probably need to shut up about it from this point on, but yea, stamina sux. The odd thing is how other aspects about the game are over-the-top ridiculously easy and makes the game seem like it was designed to be casual at best. He could easily change the regen from 1/s to 1%/s which would not change anything as new player, but would help balance things out once your stamina pool grows and need more stamina.
Then regarding ore, tree, resources respawns - I heard its a miscommunication - it shouldnt disappear, only respawn slower. Also heard there are more spawn points for resources. I dont know though will try it tomorrow.
Glad to hear this. A mod in discord talked about it briefly, but they seemed to have no idea of any of the specifics. They just said that currently its 'bugged' because you can save and reload the save and all the trees are back. That wasn't even possible in previous builds for trees anyway. Iron nodes I'm not so sure, but you could go into a dungeon and come out and they were refreshed. I'm totally okay with them just taking longer to respawn, but it does say clearly in the changelog that "* Rocks, ore, and trees no longer respawn after harvesting" so I hope you are right as that is about as concise and it gets. Maybe he doesn't like the backlash is pulling a politician move.

The base building aspect is probably half of what I really like about this game. I totally agree it would be great to be incentivised to build instead of just doing it for fun. When I first started and didn't know wtf I was doing my concern made me work at building to keep me safe, but that has long since left me. I've made every new save about building two bases; one near the start location typically wood, and another someplace picturesque that I've not built yet typcailly with stone. But players have to force themselves to come up with their own goals/agendas to do this because there is benificial reason to.

Let us know how the new update feels. I'm curious about a lot of things on that list including the Archdemon's animations. Hopefully they aren't just a motionless impalement like the reapers. Tho that does tend to negate any misalignment which happens with every other animation.
