Awesome! Sounds like the Dev might have fixed most of the things that completely screwed the game in the latest update.
Just need to wait for a hero to upload the hotfixed version.

UPDATE FOR THOSE ASKING
yes there is a new patch and it fixed a lot of broken things
fixed the Fisherman's quest line everything works and you can complete all his quests
jizz bottles are now working properly
FARMING : is still broken so you can not raise crops
the Radial menu still broken
sex with dragons is possible with using the cheat menu and getting the alluring staff early otherwise still broken (good news is with the staff the dragon can hit your pussy properly so that is a win )
you can masturbate to entice all other monsters for sex (not dragons )
trading with the blacksmith still broken you lose your cursor when you open the trade window
Mining in the vampire caves Broken you can not get dark ore for some reason
still an issue with followers you can not order them to stay they will keep following you
ANY WAY progress is being made to Iron out the bugs ......stay tuned another patch may be coming soon

I do not know how this game got so broken all of a sudden. Quests can't be completed, missing meshes, etc.
BTW, drake whisper and mayor ring quests are also bugged. I can't talk to Isabele and I have killed three wereboars, but got 0/5 kills according to the quest. (At this point, I think we can safely assume EVERY quest has a bug) I thought some of these quests had been made before and were rock solid. Guess an engine change somewhere scrambled the quest coding.

Fight, run, jump, swim, discover locations. Grit increases with level.

Thanks, found out the hard way
They need to change it when you die, you do not lose your Grit hearts
As someone mentioned, you gain Grit points from leveling up. I don't know the exact ratio for it, but you gain 1 Grit point every 2 or 3 levels.
Be aware that if you get defeated and sexed up, your grit points are reduced by the number of skulls that a monster has. Masturbating to attract monsters doesn't reduce your grit points.
Grit will regenerate naturally, at a rate of 1 point every 10-15 minutes of real time that passes. So, if you had 6 Grit points and get defeated and sexed by a wereboar (3 skulls), you now only have 3 grit points until they regenerate.
i'd say wait for the hotfix, current version is broken on too many levels and we just need a hero to upload a 8.5.3.1 version

Add here alse Fatal Error if kill enemy. Lot of clotches visual bugs. Broken level system. No swiming animation, because instead of submerging, we walking like Jesus on water.

I mean, yeah, je version 0.8.5.3 is fucked, need to test the hotfixed one to see if there are any improvements.
Remember that the game is in alpha though, glitches, missings anims or game breaking bugs have to be expected.
Best advice I can give is to wait for reports from people before updating from your last most stable version.
If you want you can go on the discord to report your bugs, it helps the dev
