When I played this game for the first time last year (the original jp version prior to the english translation) I had a save where I accidentally stumbled into a very glitched game state - a pretty interesting one imo, but I'm someone who's interested in glitches. Tried searching the old thread back then to see if anyone else had encountered it, with no luck, but I was too lazy to make the writeup I am now lol. Randomly remembered it now a year later when I saw they were making a new one, and I'm bored so fuck it. Unfortunately since it's been so long I can't really remember exactly what I did that led to this game state, but I think it was something to do with the fortune telling stand because that's where the save is at (and I seem to remember something about the fortune stand being what allowed it to happen when testing back then).

Essentially I did something at the fortune telling stand late at night, the save is already at 22:00 so time has stopped advancing. If I warp from there to the love hotel and enter the room inside... When I leave, suddenly the girl is with me (she was not before), and the save and map buttons are greyed out. She will have odd dialogue that she doesn't normally have when following me around, that in this context felt a vaguely unsettling lol. For example, if i tell her to change clothes she simply responds "This is what you want." and ends the dialogue. Or asking for sex she just says "No way." despite maxed relationship stats, and she won't let you dismiss her saying "Don't say lonely things." She also just says "Hehe." a lot if you chat. You also NEED to interact with her once you start, because if you try and hit the "back" button she will just say ".........." and it will reopen the interaction menu. Weird af, I don't remember any of this behavior in any other part of the game, but maybe I'm misremembering.

When you leave the love hotel and go to the next screen after that (because you can't warp without map button), walking left to load the next area will just loop the same screen over and over (a seemingly random number of loops) before *finally* loading the next map. You will also notice that time is advancing, past 22:00 somehow, even going past 24:00 hilariously. You can now wander the map freely if you want, though usual interactions with the girl don't exist right now, and the one place you CAN'T go is the shrine: the girl will stop you saying "I don't want to go." Other NPCs don't seem to exist in this weird limbo state either. Like you can go in the convenience store, but the clerk isn't there, store is totally empty.

Anyways when you finally get back home, there will be a buggy cutscene that plays where she approaches you from the house wearing pajamas (despite being with you in outdoor clothes moments before), commenting that you're home very late, and then makes some odd statements that I don't really understand the meaning of. Once that's done, the game is "normal" again and you can warp/save, except time is still advancing beyond normal limits. It can go all the way to 44:44 before it stops entirely. Kind of a weird time to stop considering time moves in 20 minute increments, and normally only goes to 22:00. Another odd thing about this state is that while the NPCs like the clerk will now exist again, the girl has seemingly despawned. She is not anywhere in the house, nor anywhere else on the map. After sleeping everything goes back to normal again, but still... How weird. Alternatively, if you go home from the start of the save without going to the love hotel, the game is totally normal, nothing odd happens unless you go to the love hotel.

I also don't know if any of this dialogue exists elsewhere in the game; I was playing in japanese back then (which I cannot read) and relying on periodic google images translations as need to progress. Now there's this english version and I assumed this bug wouldn't work anymore... but when I put this old save into it, all this same behavior still occurs. The odd dialogue is translated as well, so I'm assuming its used elsewhere in-game and I just didn't realize because I couldn't read the language. Anyone have any idea what caused this? Though I'm mostly sharing because some of you may also find it entertaining.

Here's the save if you want to try for yourself:

My brother you've helped me unlock an achievement(I have the steam version). This was intentional, or they made that glitch into an easter-egg.

Edit: Someone made a guide for this, and apparently you can earn 2 hidden achievements.

Worth noting that her portrait art have her eyes covered in shadow if you check, and you can't save or use your map during when she follows.
The implication is that the Hazuki that suddenly follows is a ghost or yokai of some kind in the Love Hotel that follows you as Hazuki and temporarily trapped you from exiting the Love Hotel area, explaining why the protagonist was surprised when he saw the real Hazuki at home, why the ghost doesn't want to go to the shrine, and why she have different dialogues + not wanting to have sex.
At the final event mentioned by the , the "Hazuki" mentions that "just because you got a bit intrigued you came here at this time?"
"You really are an interesting human, thanks, bye bye."

Now the real question is, how was anyone supposed to figure this weird easter egg out? The only real hint is the dialogue from Hazuki "Maybe don't go to anywhere dangerous alone" which is very vague, and I'm surprised people were able to figure out "go to the love hotel room late at night
alone after the Bad Luck pull, then notice how the time limit is now 44:44, and return to the love hotel room."

Incredible, thanks for all the info. I did also notice the portrait art, but forgot to mention in the original post. I can't believe I never thought to check the hotel room again at 44:44, shit! It's so obvious in hindsight. I also feel a little silly for thinking this was a glitch lmao. It did cross my mind that this might have been intentional, but that cutscene at the house was a little glitchy with the triple fadeout, and I couldn't find a "conclusion" so I thought it may have been bugged. Plus some of the behavior was *just* in the realm of "this could be a weird bug" for me idk.

Either way, thanks for solving this little mystery for me, I'd quietly wondered about this interaction for a while so it's cool to finally know. On one hand I'm a little sad it isn't a spooky glitch, but on the other hand I'm kind of impressed that it's intentional lol. It had a great balance of unsettling and weird while also being pretty subtle and taking advantage of its medium and established gameplay interactions. Also I think it benefits from being such an obscure trigger, though I could see it being annoying for people trying to 100% without guides.

It definitely gave me a small spook last night when I tried it out myself. Does leave me craving more of it, perhaps in the new Summer game coming out sometimes later this month.
One thing I found interesting regarding the back button interaction and the ghost's response "..." is how for the Japanese version, back is "やめろ" which simply means to stop (which, could also be used as in "completely discard the activity at hand") - so it's possibly a wordplay joke of the protagonist telling the ghost to "stop" which explains her being commentless.

Well... mpacc triggered the event on their own by accident :ROFLMAO:

I forgot which game it was that I've played in the past; But that game got a password that can only be obtained through digging into the dev twitter as some sort of "mini ARG."
Since I played the game "late", I simply use the publicly available code. But back then, I assume people probably shared their findings on imageboard and the like.

One person found something interesting, another replicates it and discovers something new, and through collective efforts, people unlocked the "hidden" content together, and the rest of the community can just enjoy the unearthed "secret" though user made guides.
I guess the idea is to build up community discussion like what we're doing right now.
